Tyler or Tylor?

i have seen tyler spelt tylor recently on a lot of baby name websites and i quite like it, but dont know if it is one that people will think i have made up/purposly mis-spelled to be different. in my opinion it is just much less common, but i thought this about another name that a lot of people disagreed with.

Hmm, I don't know of any children called Tyler.

Tylor looks like a misspelling of Taylor.

I am not keen on the name, but think Tyler would be the better spelling.

SleightiesChick · 27/12/2009 23:21

Tyler is standard. I don't think it's that common a name. Agree that Tylor will look like Taylor written wrongly. Go for the standard spelling, varying it to be 'different' never works; just pick the name you like and don't give your child all the annoyance of spelling it out over and over in later life.

i prefer Tyler

becklespeckle · 27/12/2009 23:25

If you love the name then go for the traditional spelling of Tyler, he won't understand at 5 when his teachers keep mispronouncing/misspelling Tylor

Both names horrid - sorry

displayuntiltwelfthnight · 28/12/2009 00:36

neither or neithor

sorry, but I don't like it at all

pingviner · 28/12/2009 00:37

Tyler if you must, please!

I was thinking that TYLOR was a sci fi thing and sure enough....

The Irresponsible Captain Tylor (無責任艦長タイラー, Musekinin Kanchō Tairā?) is an anime series based on The Most Irresponsible Man in Space (宇宙一の無責任男, Uchū Ichi no Musekinin Otoko?) light novel series by Hitoshi Yoshioka.

its a bit much for a kid to live up to surely?

pingviner · 28/12/2009 00:39

sadly kanji characters dont come up on mnet but basically theres a series of trashy novels and anime films about this Tylor character

Missy8c · 28/12/2009 07:27

Neither..unless you want him to become a white van man from Dagenham

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 28/12/2009 07:31

It looks cr*p spelt Tylor.

NancyDrewRocks · 28/12/2009 07:32

Both dreadful.

But if you absolutely must then Tyler.

hohohojollster · 28/12/2009 07:41

don't like either, but Tyler is better. Tylor is just wrong.

SixtyFootDoll · 28/12/2009 08:20

Tylor is dreadful
Tyler is marginally better

malovitt · 28/12/2009 08:21

Most of the Staffordshire terriers in our local park have been named Tyler, it seems.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/12/2009 08:35

Tyler the lesser of two evils.

purepurple · 28/12/2009 08:43

I know 2 Tylers.
I don't like Tylor, looks like a spelling mistake.

FoxyRevenger · 28/12/2009 09:58

Tyler sounds like a dog's name, Tylor is just....a Boggle name.

jlo1234 · 28/12/2009 14:57

i asked your opinions on wether u think the spelling would look stupid as tylor, never even said i was going to call him tyler.

if you dont like it then its your own OPINION but it doesnt mean that it is actually a horrid name, and as for the dogs called tyler, there are non near us

i think some of the names on other threads are terrible but have never said so, its rude.
