Ailsa, Imogen or Iona?

I'm due on Friday and don't even know if we're having a girl (posted here a few weeks ago for boy suggestions!) I can't decide between Ailsa, Imogen or Iona.

We're from Scotland and 'Ailsa' is from 'Ailsa Craig' a famous rock (and my DH's name). 'Iona' is a monestary island off Scotland and I just love Imogen although DH thinks its a bit poncy.

Middle name will be Grace as I want something serene and hopeful after having 2 mc last year.

DS is called Isaac...

I await your opinions .

I have an Iona so obviously I love it! Expecting baby number 2 in April and considering Isaac!

I have to s ay I love all 3 names!

Iklboodolphtherednosereindeer · 16/12/2009 13:10

DS would have been Imogen if he'd been a girl

ilovesprouts · 16/12/2009 13:10

i like imogen dc3 was going to be called that ,but he was a boy

PotPourri · 16/12/2009 13:14

Love Imogen, but I don't like same initial as others so would have to say Ailsa (although I think that is old fashioned). Can you have Grace as first name? That's lovely.

LynetteScavo · 16/12/2009 13:20

Imogen.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 16/12/2009 13:20

Iona, definitely.

Neeko · 16/12/2009 13:34

Hi Blue Imogen is one of my favourite names, so although I like the other two, it definitely gets my vote.

Piffpaffpoff · 16/12/2009 13:41

Love love love Iona but watch out if your surname is a 'thing' or place i.e. Iona Carr = I own a car. Sadly, our surname is a place so once I had this pointed out to me I had to rule it out!! And it was very near the top of my list until that point, along with Isla. And then when it came to it, we ended up calling DD something completely different!!

Ailsa is very nice.

myfirstbump · 16/12/2009 13:43

I love Ailsa! It's gorgeous.

DH has a Scottish contingent on his Mum's side so we were trying to think of Scottish names. I absolutely loved Iona, until DH pointed out the playgound 'I own her' pun... It was never the same for me afterwards, so disappointing as it really is a beautiful name.

CurlyBigPants · 16/12/2009 13:54

I love Ailsa Grace blue

coldtits · 16/12/2009 13:55

I don't like any of those.

Bonsoir · 16/12/2009 13:57

If your DS is called Isaac I don't think that you should call any of his siblings with a name beginning with I.

And Ailsa is far too similar to Isaac.

Look for something different!

barbie1 · 16/12/2009 13:58

Iona...

Although i think you might have a boy!

lola0109 · 16/12/2009 13:58

We are trying to think of some Scottish names for DD2 due in March, DD1 is Ainslie, I love Imogen but DP isn't keen, Can't have Ioan due to surname but I LOVE LOVE LOVE Ailsa but sadly it's too close too ainslie for us to use.

So Ailsa has my vote!!

Please choose Ailsa, just because I can't!

FWIW I also think Mirren is beautiful!

VJay · 16/12/2009 17:34

blue I've been rolling round all three names with the middle name and your surname in my head and along side ds's name too, I have been mulling for a while now and must admit that Imogen comes out tops for me, and tell dh it aint poncy it's lush

cece · 16/12/2009 17:38

All 3 names are lovely. I think you should wait till you meet your little one. Then you can see which of those names (or another one) suit him/her!

cloudydaze · 16/12/2009 17:41

Imogen gets my vote, I love that name!

sweetkitty · 16/12/2009 17:43

Love all 3 but preference is Imogen, Iona and Ailsa

Imogen is on our shortlist for DB4 as well

I love Ailsa, but have a suspicion that I would hate it if it were my name.

my preference would be Iona, Ailsa, Imogen.

Ondine · 16/12/2009 18:37

Much prefer Iona, it's gorgeous.

Imogen is twee and too pony club imo.

Ailsa reminds me of Ailsa Stweart from Home & Away. It's alright, a bit plain.

Mimi1977 · 16/12/2009 19:04

We've got an Imogen and I love it - far from twee nighby in fact I think it's very stylish but still traditional! Nothing wrong with Pony Club either.

Piffpaffpoff · 16/12/2009 20:29

Lorna?

VanillaSliceSliceBaby · 16/12/2009 20:40

i love iona too - at least you're down to three. I haven't got a scooby!

wasabipeanut · 16/12/2009 21:08

Hi Blue. I think I prefer Iona out of these 3. Ailsa does sound a little too close to Isaac and I have known one too many sloaney pony Imogenens although that could just be the company I keep

You are doing better than us - we have a shortlist of about 8!
