Lexxi

What's the mumsnet consensus on this then?

DP's colleague has just had a baby called Lexxi, not short for anything, just Lexxi.

Friends are polarised - some love the name with a passion, some think it is beyond the pale.

(she is not on MN btw, she is a bounty girl, presumably she thinks MN is full of itches)

Not my cup of tea.

BunnyLebowski · 10/12/2009 13:05

Woeful.

littledawley · 10/12/2009 13:06

Lexie is lovely, not sure about the additional x however it's a bit mean to start a thread about someone elses name choice.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 10/12/2009 13:06

erk

lexi/lexy yy

lexxi yak

muggglewump · 10/12/2009 13:07

I like it as a shortening for Alexandra, but not as a stand alone name, and I think the extra X is a tad silly.

DarrellRivers · 10/12/2009 13:10

Amanda Holden's child is called Lexie.
I will say no more

QandA · 10/12/2009 13:12

No, don't like it spelt any way, especially not lexxi

Bucharest · 10/12/2009 13:14

Sounds like the new Toyota/Citroen whatever.

It's fine as a shortening of Alexandra, but without the daft spelling.

RnB · 10/12/2009 13:15

Terrible way to spell it. Lexi or Lexi is better but still do't like it

RnB · 10/12/2009 13:16

Lexie even

Purplebuns · 10/12/2009 13:19

My cousins DD is Lexii, Lexii-lou, I kid thee not.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/12/2009 13:27

Littledawly - I know it is a bit mean sprited actually, you're right.

I actually like Lexy as a shortened version of Alexandra or whaveter, I just think that the spelkling of Lexxi is ridiculous.

I know a girl age 12 called Lexi. She gets called Sexy Lexi [shudder]

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/12/2009 13:50

YY that is something I was going to post - why would you name your baby daughter something which rhymes with sexy.

Mind you this woman is the type to buy babygrows with I'm Sexy or Daddy Only Wanted Blowjob or whatever ( am sure you can tell I don't like her)

mathanxiety · 10/12/2009 16:38

It's just one X short of stripperville.

santaschristmascakeywakey · 10/12/2009 16:44

Agree that it's nice(ish) as a shorterning of Alexandra. On its own, I think it sounds chavvy, especially with the extra 'x'.

crumpette · 10/12/2009 16:56

As a short form of Alexandra or even Alexa, then Lexi is cute and fine

Lexxi on its own is obviously neither cute nor fine, I think mathanxiety has summed it up well..

jellybeans · 10/12/2009 17:15

Isn't Amanda Holden's daughter Alexa though?

I think it is a nice name but don't like the 'Sexy lexi' thing, that's what would put me off.

GrendelsMum · 10/12/2009 17:29

I like it, but I had a colleague called Lexi whose academic research speciality was dyslexia. Always seemed a bit ironic.

crankytwanky · 10/12/2009 22:37

There have been 3 or 4 in our local hospital in the last month or so, which has suprised me.
Stephen Gerrard's daughter is called this non?

dizzycringles · 11/12/2009 23:53

its also David Bowie's daughter and am not sure he could be considered chav

pathetic that people are still using that word when describing names others have given their children

and starting a thread about a friend's new baby's name is a big vulgar and in poor taste imo - oh sorry, should I say chav so some can understand that better

its the fastest growing name in popularity this year apparently as well - wonder how many people have now got chavvy names kids

NotanOtter · 11/12/2009 23:54

not mad on it

peepool · 11/12/2009 23:56

BLEUGH!

Mshalfcut · 11/12/2009 23:57

I like

Squishabelle · 12/12/2009 00:04

Silly 'name' - silly spelling.
