What do you think of the name Ottilie for a girl? And is it popular at all?

Lovely, lovely - I know of one only x

malung · 05/12/2009 15:24

It's a gorgeous name. Only know one who is 12yrs old, so is no way popular.

SuziDee · 05/12/2009 15:34

Lovely... seems to make a lot of appearances in the Times baby announcements but often as a middle name good choice x

KERALA1 · 05/12/2009 15:35

Ooh love it but DH insisted I had "made it up".

Flightattendant · 05/12/2009 15:36

Gorgeous - I am still in touch with one of my teachers who was named this. With a y at the end.

theagedparent · 05/12/2009 15:40

Mistletoesnowman · 05/12/2009 16:50

I know one - I think she's about 6 or 7. It's a lovely name.

AngryPixie · 05/12/2009 17:04

I thought it was Ot-ille, which I think is lovely, I don't like the idea of O-till-ee reminds me of Osterley train station/

castille · 05/12/2009 17:13

I know one, shortened to Tilly. I always think it's a bit of an odd name, not sure why. Otters, maybe.

cumbria81 · 05/12/2009 17:57

not a fan unless you're french

Horton · 05/12/2009 18:41

Really really like this. It was on my shortlist for DD three years ago. I have never met one apart from a girl I was at school with nearly thirty years ago.

RustyBear · 05/12/2009 18:45

There was a girl at the junior school I work at called Ottilie - she'd be about 14 now, I think. She was originally always known as Lottie, but when she went to secondary school she decided to change to Tilly. I'd never come across an Ottilie before, except in John Wyndham's short story 'Random Quest'

phatcat · 05/12/2009 19:09

there's a Cocteau Twins track called 'Otterley' - apropos of nothing, Ottilie just reminded me of it that's all. I like it btw.

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/12/2009 22:36

I have an Ottilie. It's a family name. She does get called Ottilie Butterly sometimes though...

HuwEdwards · 05/12/2009 22:38

Never heard of it. Tbh, I think it sounds like a product name.

Ronaldinhio · 05/12/2009 22:40

weepootle · 05/12/2009 22:47
