Bunty

Have popped across from another board and name changed (as I think this may be an unusual one) to ask for the verdict on Bunty.

I want to use this as a full stand alone name, not short for anything.
I knew a genteel elderly lady named Bunty when I was a girl, so this has been a positive influence.

Bunty James is now Bunty Gunn: she married the clan chieftain and they are still in Caithness. She is fabulous

It would be cruel. As a nn it's sweet for a cuddly rabbit. For a child, no.

love it!!! lovely wee lady in church called bunty. great name!

mollybob · 29/11/2009 23:11

Wasn't Bunty the name of the girl in the a-ha Take on Me video who was shagging in a relationship with Morten Harket

Knowing that ages me, doesn't it?

I rarely feel strongly enough to post on the names board as each to their own and all that, but please don't do that to a child - nickname at a push but not as a proper name.

Ooh, I left out the important bit! Bunty James/Gunn's real name is Aileen. Bunty is a nn. Definitely only use it as a nn!

You are right, mollybob - her name was Bunty Bailey, and I hated her for getting to snog hunky Morten!

Cortina · 30/11/2009 10:45

Short form of Vivienne in my family it seems. Not sure if that's true more generally?

As a short form of Vivienne I think it's interesting, on it's own, not for me.

MillyMollyMoo · 30/11/2009 18:36

Only if you are extremely wealthy and she will never ever have to work for a living.
