what are your children names' theme?

Like for example, your theme could be "nature" and your kids are called "Ocean" and "Sylvian" etc..

Or maybe, your boy is called Joe, like your DH and your DH's dad etc..

For us, we want names that start with the same letter as the dad's name.

We have accidentally got two girls with French names, vaguely left-wing, two middle names, first names have three syllables, and, even though they are both spelled in the traditional way, no-one seems to be able to spell them!

They can both also be called "M" or "Em".

None of this was intentional.

I thought long and hard about which theme to go for. So we decided on famous military victories of the sixteenth century.

Not really. We found names that sounded nice and that was about it.

Biblical names which were also past names in the family, but we adapted them so a Scottish first name and the second name was the diminutive form of my Mum's first name as she passed away when I was young.

No theme, but I like names that sound like characters from 1920's detective novels

Mine's have an astrological leaning - Stars and suchlike.

DD3 has hopefully(!) been conceived last month and she'll be Nova (be nice ladies!!)...

I got bored with my theme after one child. So it was going to be scottish names but then turned astrological. .

Kind of wish i'd gone for my favourite name for DS1 then our theme would be Nature.

Nova is fine by me.

Our's are Scottish and one syllable. It just happened that way, it wasn't intentional at all.

our "theme" was what we both agreed on which was not much. As we have 2 boys the choices got even smaller for DS2.

Each time they were nameless for ages until we managed to agree on a name we liked.

I now have "two little kings" but not intentionally and not wills and harry!!

French origin and pretty sounding, they go well together.

Both our girls have Italian first names and were named - eventually - for specific reasons.

Florence Amelie was named for the city where DP and I got engaged whilst PG with her. Amelie was just DP choice.

Gabriella Eve was named after the Angel Gabriel and the fact that she arrived early on Christmas Eve.

Also, but not planned, they both have middle named beginning with vowels and we seem to be working through the alphabet! (If we had another, the initals 'should' be HI to continue the pattern!)

3 girls all have Biblical Hebrew names totally not intentional

all have 3 syllables more intentional as surname very short so kind of balances it out

fell like DB(D) 4 should have a 3 syllable name too though

boys....scottish...strong and handsome (no thats not their names!)

girl......1920's flapper girl!!!

Trees - not really planned as a theme but we both loved the names

No theme, but both DS and DD have names that are 3 syallbles, 2 syllables, 1 syllable and then a surname that is 2 syllables (but that was accidental - I didn't purposely hunt down fathers with a surname that was 2 syllables long)

Rorysracingma - Lilith is FAB -U- LOUS, I like Jezebel and Deliah too (despite the conatations)

DD - French/English name we both liked.
DS - 5th Generation, Joseph/Joe, we both liked.

No themes - just classic girls' names - pretty but not overly so, just in case they turned out to be Tom boys (which one did).

Traditional...one English, one Irish and if we (very unlikely) have a third, I am thinking French traditional....

Biblical for boys I guess and Welsh for girls though we only actually have one girl all the list for dc4 were biblical for boys and welsh for girls

We went with family names, for both first and middle names. So we ended up with quite a hodge podge, all very traditional. One is so old it's rather unusual and apparently considered pretentious here on MN by some, one that's a female version of a male family name that actually turned out to quite fashionable. The rest are unusual/ unpopular. One of this bunch gets suggested here quite a lot.
