what are your children names' theme?

Like for example, your theme could be "nature" and your kids are called "Ocean" and "Sylvian" etc..

Or maybe, your boy is called Joe, like your DH and your DH's dad etc..

For us, we want names that start with the same letter as the dad's name.

Irish names the MIL wouldn't go on and on and on about how difficult they are to pronounce.

DH and my middle names are kids' middle names.

And also...accidentally with the first 2, kind of on purpose for the third: names that are all 7 letters long.

MmeLindt · 26/11/2009 17:47

Scottish names.

Beginning with C (but that was not intentional, we did not even notice until someone pointed it out to us)

thedollshouse · 26/11/2009 17:50

Celtic. Although we didn't choose them for that reason.

doingthelambethwalk · 26/11/2009 17:54

Family names that would work in various Northern European countries (where different family members live).

inthesticks · 26/11/2009 18:01

Names which, when shortened, could be for boy or girl e.g. Sam.

Wheelybug · 26/11/2009 18:02

Unintentionally - 4 letters with 2 A's, 1 being at the end. Can't have a 3rd as can't think of any others

Wheelybug · 26/11/2009 18:02

Actually that's a lie - I can think of others but they would sound daft.

Sorry couldn't resist this...

A woman walks into the benefits office, trailed by 15 kids...

'WOW,' the social worker exclaims, 'Are they ALL yours?

'Yeah they are all mine,' the flustered mother sighs, having heard that question a thousand times before. She says, 'Sit down Terry.' All the children rush to find seats.

'Well,' says the social worker, 'then you must be here to sign up. I'll need all your children's names.'

'This one's my oldest - he is Terry.'

'OK, and who's next?'

'Well, this one he is Terry, also.'

The social worker raises an eyebrow but continues. One by one, through the oldest four, all boys, all named Terry. Then she is introduced to the eldest girl, named Terri. 'All right,' says the caseworker. 'I'm seeing a pattern here. Are they ALL named Terri?'

Their Mother replied, 'Well, yes-it makes it easier. When it is time to get them out of bed and ready for school, I yell, 'Terry!' And when it's time for dinner, I just yell 'Terry!' and they all come running.
And if I need to stop the kid who's running into the street, I just yell 'Terry' and all of them stop. It's the smartest idea I ever had, namining them all Terry.'

The social worker thinks this over for a bit, then wrinkles her forehead and says tentatively, 'But what if you just want ONE kid to come, and not the whole bunch?'

'I call them by their surnames!'

thedollshouse · 26/11/2009 18:19

Naughty.

Druidmama · 26/11/2009 18:48

I have Helena and Felicity, and based on all the other names I like it has been pointed out to me that they could all happily be Jane Austen heros/heroines...

Totally unintentional, although I do love Jane Austen.

Our theme was 'easy to spell'

Tizzyjacko · 26/11/2009 20:12

The twins Laura and Ashley and little John Lewis

VengefulKitty · 26/11/2009 20:14

I had no intention of theme other than 'normal' although it is also biblical.

I can't stand newfandangled names (have I made that word up?!)

I don't like the idea of names beginning with the same letter, but having said that, DS is Samuel and if I have the DD I want she will be Sophie as I adore the name.

allaboutme · 26/11/2009 20:19

Traditional english names, bit old fashioned is my theme!

OP have you really got a christian and a christopher in your theme? are they both called chris?

CoCoCakey · 26/11/2009 22:50

Scottish first names and Welsh middle names. On the understanding that the names become reversible should ds1 or ds2 get selected to play rugby for Wales instead of Scotland!(smile)

CristinaTheAstonishing · 26/11/2009 23:03

German, not intentional.

SoMuchToBits · 26/11/2009 23:09

I only have one child, so no theme, but myself and my sisters all have names beginning with the same letter (why did my parents do this?) and I have discovered a family in my family tree where the three girls are called Jade, Amber and Ruby.

seeker · 26/11/2009 23:11

My ds has a name that the eldest boy in dp's family has had since they first emerged from the primordial slime - until dp's dad had a row with HIS dad - and called dp something completely different. Us calling ds the name healed all sorts of rifts and laid ghosts and closed circles and finished unfinished business -[insert chiche of choice].

still wouldn't have used it if it had been an awful name, though!

lavenderkate · 26/11/2009 23:12

DD1 is swedish name and only 10 years on did someone point ou that its actually a combo of mine and Dhs name.

DD1 abbreviated, dd2 and ds1 names all could be from a 50's storybook I suppose.

mustgottobed · 26/11/2009 23:26

well our theme was purely accidental:

worked out that all 4 are named after drinks-

Saskia - Lidl's own sparkling water
Libby - cheap fruit juice.
Bel - (sp) whisky
Lucas - think ubiquitous energy drink,

just really a good job didn't call DS Jack -- betcha can't guess our surname!

RnB · 27/11/2009 15:53

Latin

Fimbo · 27/11/2009 16:03

Both biblical - not intentional. Also both names are lead characters in Cold Feet, again not intentional.

RockinSockBunnies · 27/11/2009 16:07

Greek for both first and middle name, despite no Greek heritage. But the names sounded beautiful together (Phoebe Lydia)
