In both senses of the word!

I've heard it's a name used mostly by chavs

What do you reckon?

i don't think it's a "chav" name in the slightest!!
it is becoming very popular though,i know at least 5 under the age of 4

sykes · 27/10/2009 22:54

I know two and they're v nice girls but are seven.

runawayquickly · 27/10/2009 22:56

I don't think it's chav either, like it, but in a small primary school we already have three - always think it's a shame, they're always known with second initial too (eg, Daisy M). Also Sykes, they're 7 and 6 too.

anonnnnny · 27/10/2009 22:56

I think it is unfortunately. It's not dog awful but it's mostly used by chavvy types. Especially here oop north!

brimfull · 27/10/2009 22:59

no not chavy
I know 2 , one 17 yr one 7 yrs

sargentpooper · 27/10/2009 23:01

It is a bit. Put it this way - I can think of a million classier choices! Daisy Mae galore round here, besides - it's a cow's name!

elastamum · 27/10/2009 23:04

I have a beautiful labradoodle called Daisy!

wrongun · 27/10/2009 23:05

It's getting popular now I think.
More 'common' are people who use the word chav

allipalli · 28/10/2009 00:12

Downmarket, yes it is rather.

Lily feels more classy.

BunnyLebowski · 28/10/2009 00:40

It has absolutely ventured into the realms of chav and/or west highland terrier name.

15/20 years ago it was fresh and edgy (think Gatsby inspired/Daisy Lowe etc.)

Now it's just dated and naff.

loobylu3 · 28/10/2009 09:48

I think it's v pretty and a vintage classic. I don't see how it could be 'chavvy'. Everything seems to be classed as chavvy on here nowadays -really odd!

MrsVik · 28/10/2009 11:31

I think it's a very pretty name.

Its used rather a lot now, but think its still pretty. I know a few and they're all really lovely people.

Stokey · 28/10/2009 13:34

I know three baby Daisys - none chav at all - all born in the last year.

My impression is it is popular at the moment - along with other flower names: Poppy, Lily, Rose, Iris.

But still a pretty name & pretty flower

chillmanor · 28/10/2009 14:04

I get the impression that the op isn't seriously considering using this name herself
First time poster too......

BabyDancer83 · 28/10/2009 15:20

i know of a northerner who i would definately describe as common who called her baby Daisy (or Dais-eh) but i always thought it was quite timeless and classic like Molly, in and out of fashion but always quite pretty.

spenthen · 28/10/2009 16:14

It's nice for littlies (which is just as well cos I know tons of em) but I struggle to imagine a menopausal woman named Daisy.

Bessie123 · 28/10/2009 16:18

cheeky monkeys, it is not chavvy at all.

Salonly · 29/10/2009 20:27

I think Daisy is a lovely name and not 'chav'

HerHonesty · 29/10/2009 21:58

used a lot.

paddy0 · 29/10/2009 23:31

It's definitely not posh. I have to agree with the poster that said it was once edgy but is now naff. I feel the same about Poppy and Ruby. These three are very similar in terms of style.

JenJam · 30/10/2009 00:31

I haven't read the whole thread but my two pence worth is that Daisy is quite cute, and quite refreshing, more of a classic than Poppy/Honey/Rainbow etc Lovely for a child but lacks a bit of gravitas for an adult. i wouldn't call it chavvy though. A good nickname. I know a Margaret who is referred to as Daisy.

MissHavishamsDress · 30/10/2009 01:16

I know of several little Daisys so it is rather populat - one of dd's best friends (3) has this name but deffo not 'common' in the other sense. Tasteful pretty name imo but not at all edgy or fashion forward if that's what you're looking for.

KAEKAE · 30/10/2009 20:02

I don't think its chav at all, I really like it. I also really like Poppy and have never come across a chav one yet!
