In both senses of the word!

I've heard it's a name used mostly by chavs

What do you reckon?

Great pretty name, def not 'chavvy' IMO, not that many near me either, they are all Evie, Isobelle, Olivia.

Plonker · 31/10/2009 00:00

I don't know any Daisys ...and I certainly wouldn't equate it to being 'chavvy'

LilyBolero · 31/10/2009 00:03

I know lots of Daisys. Lots of Lilys. Lots of Rubys.

thehills · 31/10/2009 10:48

I would say it's a very working class choice. I've met lots of Daisys and none of them have been from middle class families.

BonjourIvresse · 31/10/2009 11:21

Doesn't pass the prime minister test for me.

stuffedmk · 03/11/2009 12:52

I like it.

Rindercella · 03/11/2009 13:36

I know two Daisys, but under 3 years old. Both come from very middle class families.

Tbh, if you use the term chav, you need to have a look at your own use of language rather than worrying about what other people call their children.

tommyk · 03/11/2009 13:53

TOTAL chav! A really old chavvy school friend has just had twins called Bailey & Daisy
I know of a few other chavtastic ones too (with gold hooped earrings)

Daisy-Mae is especially bad!

Rindercella · 03/11/2009 13:58

see my post above tommyk

I have a Daisy, I live ooop North too. Am I a chav? I've never had one of my childrens' names rubbished on one of these threads before, I feel the need to get all defensive . I love it but it is very popular at the moment. My Daisy is officially Margaret but is pretty mcuh universally known as Daisy apart from by FIL who clals her Margarita. My gran says that Margaret is "frightfully common" and Daisy is "ghastly"

tommyk · 03/11/2009 14:03

OK. Daisy is a common-as-muck name, used by common-as-muck people.

Better?

Hulababy · 03/11/2009 14:07

I think it is a pretty name and round here tends to be used by middle class types.

However it is rather popular. There are two in the Y1 class I teach. I don;t know any others though - none in DD's school and none in the family/friends circle.

pitta · 03/11/2009 14:17

working class but nowt wrong with that

Wattinger · 03/11/2009 17:30

Lots of baby Daisy's here in West London.....

KERALA1 · 04/11/2009 11:50

Lots here in the south west. My reservation is it fails the bank manager test. Great for cute curly haired toddlers but on adult professional women...no. Feel the same about Poppy actually.

BabyValentine · 04/11/2009 12:46

I don't know any Daisys (Im oop North, not sure if that is relevant).

hulabula · 04/11/2009 13:21

Daisy is cute, fine as a nickname for a little girl. For a teenager or adult I personally find it a little too 'cutesy' and 'sweet'.
