OMG, these all just sound like names I thought were good 10 minutes ago. Although actually lots have already been discussed in the whimsicalname household and rejected. Husband keen on Fox, boys on Peregrine and Wolf. Orson, which is a preferred name, actually means little bear.

We rejected Milo and Lysander for number one, and Clovis for number two.

Tristan and Loveday are Cornish names and very nice. Know some Lovedays and it draws comment (usually positive) but they get remembered. Tristan isn't wussy, it's a great name and a knight of the round table.

dawntigga · 16/02/2010 12:07

ElephantsAndMiasmas I have a cousin called Loveday.

I love Allegra for a girl, but it juts wouldn't go with my, dp and ds's "normal" names! And Caseus (no idea where that even came from!) for a boy, but can't use it for the same reason. Maybe Icould rename ds.. lol.
I also like Bella, Alice and Edward, but I fear they might give away my Twilight obsession

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 16/02/2010 12:11

Right ma bird!

MoChan · 16/02/2010 12:13

I have always loved Araminta. Really, really, really love it. And Minty as a nickname. Gorgeous. But would I? Probably not.

MissingMyWheels · 16/02/2010 12:22

After last night's Glee, I can't get past calling a girl 'Drizzle'

Miffy!

I would love to call a boy Aubrey or a girl Aubrianna. I researched my family tree and found that the name Aubrey has been in my dads family either as a first of middle name as far back as i could get which was around 1745. My dad was an only child and so my children are the last hope for this - by not using it we are breaking the chain! argh!. I keep thinking of the bullying factor though and the fact my husband hates it!

bebejones · 16/02/2010 12:38

Girls:
Heloise
Verity
Marianne
Imogen

All vetoed by DH

Boys:
Elliot
Issac
Jasper
Rowan
Gabriel
Ezekiel (Zeke for short)

Again all vetoed by DH! Just as well we had a DD as we just couldn't agree on Boys names.

Still have some in mind that DH needs convincing about for any subsequent DC's! We loved Thomas for a boy but decided since our surname is Jones it would be too cruel!

ErikaMaye · 16/02/2010 12:40

I really love Dmitri... DP wouldn't hear of it.
Lysander
Darrien
Dameon
Carilse
Darius
Daedalus

Ocatavia
Hermionie
Nefferatri
Isis
Jaddida

Cosmo & Rocky

happystressedmum · 16/02/2010 12:45

Not unusual I know but our DS was conceived in the Dominican Republic so we called him Dominic although I loved the name anyway!

Rejessta · 16/02/2010 12:50

Inanna for a girl, after the Sumerian goddess. She was Ishtar to the Akkadians but that always reminds of that stupid movie.

CheerfulYank · 16/02/2010 12:55

September and July for girls, Serenity as it's my favorite word.

Declan for boys...probably will actually use it.

chopsache · 16/02/2010 12:57

Willow, Flora, Fleur, Arwen, Elektra. I absolutely loved Flora & Matilda but DH vetoed them.

Hektor for a boy.

allaboutme · 16/02/2010 13:04

My favourite ever boys name is Indiana.
I have 2 boys and didnt have the courage to use it either time.

LittleB · 16/02/2010 13:04

I love Arwen too, dh has vetoed it, but may let us have it as a middle name. Also genevieve with soft 'g' and Clodagh. For boys I like Seamus, travis and I do like the animal names too like wolf.
