thoughts please?
i think we prefer phoebe especially as everyone laughs when we say heather and makes suggestions towards heather in eastenders!!!

we were going to have phoebe and sofia as second name.

MIL says is too posh and would need to win lottery before we considered it.WTF?

I prefer Heather - there are loads of Phoebes around.

And who pays any attention to Eastenedersanyway?

MrsBadger · 13/10/2009 10:22

Phoebe is much better.
Not posh like (eg) Clarissa, Octavia, Araminta - throw some of these MIL's way and watch her squirm .

EightiesChick · 13/10/2009 10:25

I love both. Phoebe is more popular these days so depends how unusual you want to be. Don't pay any attention to the Eastenders thing; that will go by the time she's old enough to notice.
Neither are 'posh'! Don't know what your MIL is on about there.

madhairgirl · 13/10/2009 10:39

Go with what you want, and ignore MIL, I think Phoebe is lovely, but go with your gut instincts.

ZZZenAgain · 13/10/2009 10:42

I prefer Heather

hattee · 13/10/2009 10:47

I prefer Heather - I don't watch Eastenders though so didn't know there was a character with the same name. I'm not sure this matters though - how many people pay attention to Eastenders? Though maybe it is me that is out of touch . I may also be biased as I know a very nice Heather

I like the name Heather and didn't know Eastenders had one.

bellissima · 13/10/2009 11:01

Well isn't Phoebe in the Archers? (blimey I'm boring). So - tis Archers or Benders - take your socioeconomic pick. But Phoebe Sofia too many 'f' sounds imo (and why name a child after the capital of Bulgaria).

BarbieLovesKen · 13/10/2009 13:27

Ooh I like both. Really love Phoebe though - think its a little more quirky or something - gorgeous. Funny, have never, ever met or heard of a Phoebe

midnightexpress · 13/10/2009 13:33

I adore Phoebe. Tis v v pretty.

Though I have a lovely friend called Phoebe. She is a bit posh actually.

lovemybabyboy · 14/10/2009 11:43

I love both names, they are both lovely and not too posh imo. If I had to choose I think I would go for Heather, but it is a hard decision as both names are gorgeous.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 14/10/2009 17:07

I prefer Heather

Phoebe - beebie-weebie . I just don't like the sound of it IYSWIM

bogie · 14/10/2009 17:14

We have a Phoebe and we are no lottery winners

weaselbudge · 14/10/2009 17:16

i like phoebe, heather sounds less feminine IMO for some reason

bess23 · 14/10/2009 17:17

love phoebe like heather but phoebe i prefer.

crokky · 14/10/2009 17:20

I love Heather, she will be long gone from EE by the time your DD is old enough for that sort of association.

TheDevilEatsBabies · 15/10/2009 16:37

I wouldn't go for them both.

I prefer Heather, but that's because it's on my list
if you were worried, you could go for Erica/ Erika (German word for heather as in the plant)

Heather Sofia sounds better than Phoebe Sofia.
but shooting my own suggestion in the foot, neither name works well with Erica...

Hulababy · 15/10/2009 22:07

I prefer Phoebe.

muggglewump · 15/10/2009 22:13

I don't like Heather at all and love Phoebe.

I do think Phoebe is about to be really popular though, if it isn't already.
You may end up with one of 5 in the class, and/or a soap baby.

pointyhat · 15/10/2009 22:30

I really quite like Heather

laurz75 · 15/10/2009 22:36

Heather is a lovely name.

jellycat · 15/10/2009 22:41

I vote for Heather (but then it is my middle name). Phoebe is already popular, amongst my friends anyway!

Ninni · 27/10/2009 07:18

Both names on my short list!! Husband not sure... he associates Phoebe with Friends too much...

birdofthenorth · 27/10/2009 13:13

Phoebe!
