We've tried to keep out of the top 20, but failed with another DC's name, here goes.

Clare or Clare
Eliose
Sadie
Talia

DH likes Sally too but it's the name of a bunny boiler ex of my brothers

Funny how everyone has different take! I was sure Clair was the French version and the two Tahlias I know have 'h's ! All 4 of the names you've shortlisted are lovely.

What about Phoebe? or is it Pheobe?

PoppyIsApain · 10/10/2009 20:32

I like Clara and Sadie

peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 20:36

Or Darcy?

FishInMyHair · 10/10/2009 20:39

Talia- does it rhyme with Maria, pronounced Tarlia or Ta (as in thankyou) lia.

I like Clare. It is lovely and classic and will be considered unusual amongst her peers for sure!

MillyMollyMoo · 10/10/2009 20:45

I love Darcy DH hates it

I would pronounce Tal - ee - a

LOVE Clara, Clare is nice too
Sadie is gorgeous
Eloise is just another Ellie-name to me
Talia has been ruined a bit for me by someone IRL, so I'd say no to that

Clara or Sadie, say I.

hester · 10/10/2009 21:18

I love Sadie and Talia - was tempted by Talia for dd, but having read some of the posts on this thread I'm a bit relieved I didn't go for it!

I think, but could be wrong, that Talia has Hebrew origins and is pronounced Ta-le-a, while Thalia has Greek origins and is pronounced Tar-le-a. I've never come across Tahlia.

sweetkitty · 10/10/2009 21:30

Just love it when one of your DCs names gets utterly slated on MN

Talia is pronounced Tah-lee-ah is an old testament Hebrew name meaning Dew from Heaven, unless the Hebrews were chavs do not think it is chavvy

MillyMollyMoo · 10/10/2009 21:47

Well DH has just said no to Clara so we're back to Sadie and Talia, which as we may be having twins there is every possibility I may get to use both

So glad we've got that sorted with just 36 weeks to go lol

OP posts:
peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 21:51

Wow 'may be having twins....' how come you don't know?

Sadie and Talia do go nicely together (5 character symmetry)

nighbynight · 10/10/2009 21:55

Eloise - lovely, and coming into fashion I think- you could end up with another top 20!
Clare - very classic
Sadie - short for Mercedes isnt it? Always sounds american to me for some reason.
Talia - never quite hits the top ten, but perennially popular. I personally dont like it, sorry.

peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 21:56

MillyMollyMoo don't leave us in the lurch.... how do you not know if you are having twins or not?... (adoption/surrogacy or unable to scan??)!

LilyBolero · 10/10/2009 21:59

What about Elise? I think that's very pretty and classic, but not as flowery as Eloise?

forehead · 10/10/2009 22:02

I love the name Clara, it is absolutely beautiful.

bluejeans · 10/10/2009 22:11

Is Clare-without-an-i really Irish? It's my middle name and I didn't know that. Always felt short changed by lack of i!

I like Clara - Eloise ok but I associate it too much with the song. Don't like Sadie at all, sorry. Talia is ok

facebookaddict · 10/10/2009 22:14

Yep think so, like County Clare. I knew a Clair who always felt shortchanged by lack of 'e' !

RunningGirl · 10/10/2009 22:14

Clare and Clara both lovely
Sadie makes me think of Sadie Frost and therefore awful, sorry.
Others - ok
OP says she has 36 weeks to go so I suppose has only just found out she's pregnant. Am guessing either had IVF and 2 embryos put back or twins in family hence twins a likely possibility

peacock19780 · 10/10/2009 22:19

Ah, misread it. Thought 36weeks gone! MillyMolly will have 4 totally new names by 36weeks gone...!
