We've tried to keep out of the top 20, but failed with another DC's name, here goes.

Clare or Clare
Eliose
Sadie
Talia

DH likes Sally too but it's the name of a bunny boiler ex of my brothers

facebookaddict (like your name btw) never thought of county Clare - obvious as it is

PlumpkinScaryBaps · 10/10/2009 22:29

Claire is definitely a wonderful name, pretty, classic, elegant, witty, charming, intelligent and you don't have to be French to have it.

Not that I am in any way biased, you understand. Or that I am one know anyone called Claire.

But Clara is also nice, as is Eloise. Not Talia or Sadie though, for my money.

Clary · 10/10/2009 22:45

Clare - must have been very popular about 30-40 years ago as I know (tots up) eight off the top of my head. None under 10 (or in fact under 28 or so) tho. (It's my middle name fwiw)

Eloise is nice, I only know one. Also one Sadie (she's a baby) that's rather sweet.

Don't know anyone, big or small, called Talia.

simplesusan · 10/10/2009 23:56

Eloise is lovely so is Clara.
I like Clair and would spell it this way (is this the original way?).
Not keen on Sadie or Talia.

mathanxiety · 11/10/2009 02:58

I like Clara, prefer Natalia to Talia -- Sadie I always thought was a pet name for Sarah (which I like). Eloise is a bit fluffy, imo.

nooka · 11/10/2009 05:31

Clare is English. Clara is a feminine version of the Roman Clarus, hence Clara being used across Europe (Clare being the English version of Clara, used from the Middle Ages). Claire is the French form, and Clair is apparently the French version of Clarus, and for masculine.

Oh and County Clare was named after the Norman invader Richard de Clare, whose surname came from the English river Clare.

All you need to know about Clare . It's my mother's name.

diddl · 11/10/2009 09:39

Like Sadie,Clare, prefer Elise to Eloise.

Hate Talia/Tahlia

ninedragons · 11/10/2009 11:16

There are loads of toddler Eloises in my neck of the woods. May be the next Isabella/Isobel

nappyaddict · 11/10/2009 11:58

I like Sarah/Sara too. Very much underused imo.

nighbynight · 11/10/2009 13:15

Sahra is nice too. It means "desert" in Berber. (ie Sahara).

LittleMissWorryHead · 11/10/2009 14:53

Clare should be spelt Clare. End of

simplesusan · 11/10/2009 15:35

Thanks nooka didn't know all that about Clare/Clair /Claire!
Think the confusion over which spelling might put me off slightly so may be tempted to plump for Eloise

MaggieBehave · 11/10/2009 15:39

Sadie

LittleMissWorryHead · 11/10/2009 17:10

Don't let it put you off!!

Personally, as a Clare, I love Clara. But DH said Clara is a cow...

Hmmm..

From your list I like Clara, Clare (obv!) and Sadie

All lovely.....

good luck!
