Only 3 weeks to go and still undecided. I really liked India but my sister in law told me that India together with our surname sounded like an Indian restaurant! Its put me off it!

I agree with Orangeange that it's a name for a dark-haired girl. Really pretty though.

It's - well, quite a burden to carry.

What are the implications of naming your kid after a country?

Ok - my DS has a very traditional set of Irish first, middle and surnames. But his Dad is Irish. And we didn't call him Erin.

What does "India" MEAN to you all as a family? Do you have roots/connections with India as a place?

Will it mean the same to you in 30 years time?

Or is it just a nice "sound"?

Imagine running after her in a few years in the shopping centre shouting "India! India!"

lowrib · 27/12/2009 02:32

I like Anoushka much more.

MaggiesManifesto2010 · 27/12/2009 12:14

lol at "I have to go and feed India" sounding like a humanitarian mission.

I don't like it. I knew a woman with an India and she was v. annoying.
