pretty, but reminds me of Scooby Doo (sorry..)

Dumbledoresgirl · 16/09/2009 19:52

Elderly ladies smelling of lavender.

But you never know, it might be making a comeback....

bibbitybobbityhat · 16/09/2009 19:54

I love it.

But it has been mentioned loads of times recently on the baby names threads.

I think Daphne may be the new Matilda.

MmeLindt · 16/09/2009 20:06

I love it. Goi g to be very popular soon. Old lady names are very popular at the moment.

Aaaaaaand I have an incredibly cuuuute Daphne curled up next to me on the sofa.

HigherThanAWombat · 16/09/2009 20:07

It's awful. It makes me think of Daphne Broon.

I think it's a very ugly name, not pretty at all.

hambo · 16/09/2009 20:08

neighbours - did she not get murdered?

Tidey · 16/09/2009 20:09

Bush.

That is all.

cece · 16/09/2009 20:09

Not pretty and a bit old lady imo. Also reminds me of Daphne off of Neighbours.

MmeLindt · 16/09/2009 20:11

Higher
that is who our Daphne is named after

I think it works well for your very adorable dog,but not for a child.

MmeLindt · 16/09/2009 20:19

I like it for a child in an Esme / Elspeth kind of way. I really do think that it is due a comeback.

HigherThanAWombat · 16/09/2009 20:33

Why? Is there going to be a mass outbreak of temporary insanity among pregnant women?

Pingpong · 16/09/2009 21:01

sorry not keen on Daphne but then again I'm not into old lady names in general.
I don't consider it a pretty name, it sounds harsh to me.

loobylu3 · 16/09/2009 21:16

I really love it
I think it will definitely become more popular.

ninah · 16/09/2009 21:17

I like it

persephoneplum · 17/09/2009 04:06

I want to like it but I can't.
It reminds me of the words daft and Daffy, as in the duck, who was lovable, but a fool. Sorry!

nellyonthetelly · 18/09/2009 01:16

LOVE IT! Wasn't brave enough - some bad feedback on this very forum... go for it!

Cortina · 18/09/2009 06:16

1950s names are due a revival so this is going to be popular soon I think.

I like it but wouldn't use it.

Longtalljosie · 18/09/2009 06:56

Neighbours...

southernbelle77 · 18/09/2009 07:02

DD (5) goes to school with one. Think they are German but that's neither here nor there! Until I heard a little one called it I would have thought it was wrong for a child, but it suits her and doesn't seem wrong at all!

justbeenforapromenade · 20/09/2009 01:04

Dh loves it - says he once met a very beautiful French girl with this name. I would consider it for a future dd, but not for the above reason! It has a gorgeous meaning, look it up. When I say it I see green leaves and a nymph-like woman in 30s dress - very light and airy in feel. Art Deco. I think of Daphnes du Maurier and Guiness.

justbeenforapromenade · 20/09/2009 01:05

I mean Guinness ( as in Daphne Guinness - google her)
