Look, I know this is pathetic, but we're really stuck for a name for DD3 (she's 2 weeks old already, poor thing). We have a Benedict, a Felicity and a Cecilia. Suggestions please.

I was convinced throughout the pregnancy that she was a boy, in which event she would have been Theodore.

Criteria:

Very short surname so has to have 3 or 4 syllables.

Not too many Ls as would be silly with surname

Early Roman saint would be perfect but we can't find one that's "right" iyswim

Thank you for any ideas you could throw into the naming hat.

tell us what you choose!

NewBee- as someone who made poisons potions from herbs as a child with a copy of Culpeper's Herbal in hand, I would never cast any aspersions on anyone's childhood hobbies!

Susannah.

Lancelottie · 17/09/2009 10:13

Julitta.

(local church -- tempted by this for DD, but really didn't go with our very plain boys' names)

NewbeeMummy · 17/09/2009 11:35

Duchesse - thanks, it's nice to know I'm not the only one with a "different" hobby

NewbeeMummy · 17/09/2009 11:36

PS - Please do let us know what you decide on in the end.

Please go for Domiziana, it's my favourite! It has 3 saints days and it's from Latin, so fits your criteria.

mafog · 17/09/2009 12:55

Tryphena

loobylu3 · 17/09/2009 13:49

So many gorgeous names on this thread!
To go with your other DC's names I would pick:

Dorothea
Theadora
Susannah
Beatrix
Adelaide
Verity
Eugenie

I'm sure she will be v well named like her sibs

duchesse · 17/09/2009 14:03

Well, after a few toings and froings, we seem to be down to a shortlist of Matilda, Theodora and Isadora/Isidora. Not necessarily in any order of preference. Shall report back by and by.

Gosh- that's funny. I was going to suggest Matilda too but I thought you might find it too popular compared to your other DC's names. You can't go wrong with any of those choices!

Kwini · 17/09/2009 20:48

Valentine?

duchesse · 22/09/2009 08:53

I loved so many of your suggestions!

After a loooong consultation and debate process, we've now registered the Bug- She is Madeleine Ophelia. We were still debating the middle name in the registry waiting room- it was between Ottilie and Ophelia. I would have loved to call her Ophelia or Ottilie as a first name, but DH is a little more conventional with names than I am...
