Look, I know this is pathetic, but we're really stuck for a name for DD3 (she's 2 weeks old already, poor thing). We have a Benedict, a Felicity and a Cecilia. Suggestions please.

I was convinced throughout the pregnancy that she was a boy, in which event she would have been Theodore.

Criteria:

Very short surname so has to have 3 or 4 syllables.

Not too many Ls as would be silly with surname

Early Roman saint would be perfect but we can't find one that's "right" iyswim

Thank you for any ideas you could throw into the naming hat.

PLEASE don't use it, but I've just remembered a name I heard on the radio last year that would go perfectly - Parthenope!

What do you think of Viviana - early saints name?

Ponders · 16/09/2009 22:16

If you wanted Theodore for a boy, why not Theodora for a girl? Equally fabulous name & lots of possible pet names

choosyfloosy · 16/09/2009 22:17

This is the most beautiful name thread ever.

LynetteScavo · 16/09/2009 22:18

My first thought was Aurelia.

My second thought was Hermione.

TheFallenMadonna · 16/09/2009 22:18

Helena

I know it's been suggested already - I'm supporting it

EachPeachPearMum · 16/09/2009 22:18

Beatrix
Margaret/Margot
Aurelia

Congratulations btw

LynetteScavo · 16/09/2009 22:19

I'd put money on you chooding Ottilie.

mumonthenet · 16/09/2009 22:19

Hermione

(again not Roman but Greek)

Love all the names btw.

So, Duchesse have you got a shortlist yet?

Dumbledoresgirl · 16/09/2009 22:20

Fab names (your older children). If I had another baby girl to name, I would go for Verity which I see has been suggested already. Or Francesca is nice, but it would mean you had 2 Miss Fs.

wigglybeezer · 16/09/2009 22:20

Dorothea is one I've always liked, also Frederica.

mumonthenet · 16/09/2009 22:24

And, I simply LOVE Theodora.

GrendelsMum · 16/09/2009 22:25

Sabina is gorgeous.

Ooh Aurelia - gorgeous!

Ladies, thank you so much. Sorry I didn't get back on last night- went for a nap then a friend came round, the the troops returned from school and evening started...

These are all lovely names. Some we can't use because they are already mine or my sisters' or my nieces' names (not telling which!) but that really shows how much on the right track you all are. We want to go to Italy at half term so we really need to register the Bug asap so we can get her a passport.

Will report back what we choose for her (I can see she might end up being one of those kids with vast number of names on birth certificate...)

Lynette- I love Ottilie but DH not so keen, and older girls made faces (you know the sort).

Monica is her saint's day name (born 27th Aug) but is also my third sister's middle name and I don't really like it, alas...
