Frances

flimflammum · 31/08/2009 07:26

Wait till the baby's born and decide when you've seen her.

Ronaldinhio · 31/08/2009 07:29

both lovely

FritesMenthe · 31/08/2009 07:55

agree, both are lovely. I like Frankie as a nn.

pippel · 31/08/2009 08:03

frances

tummytickler · 31/08/2009 08:42

I have an 8 year old Iris, toyed with Frances for her too - with nn Fran - so not much help am I I suppose i have to vote for iris - 'tis a very strong feminine name imo

Fruitysunshine · 31/08/2009 08:43

I think Iris is lovely - pretty.

pasturesnew · 31/08/2009 08:48

Slight preference for Iris, Frances is lovely but don't really like its abbreviations Fran, Frankie or Fanny. Like Francesca with "Chess" for short, though.

piscesmoon · 31/08/2009 08:58

Frances

suwoo · 31/08/2009 09:08

Iris

boodleboot · 31/08/2009 09:09

Iris....Issy for short

BubbaAndBump · 31/08/2009 09:34

Well there you have it. Very conclusive I'd say

saltyseadog · 31/08/2009 09:37

Iris without a doubt. If my bump is a girl she'll have Iris as a middle name (after my nan - who is an absolute superstar of a lady).

MrsVik · 31/08/2009 10:32

I prefer Iris. I find Frances a bit too ambiguous, whereas Iris is pretty and feminine.

southernbelle77 · 31/08/2009 10:42

Iris here too. Don't find Frances very feminine or anything.

Nyx · 31/08/2009 10:44

I think Iris too. I don't like Frances much at all (have an aunt...) Whereas Iris is a lovely name

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/08/2009 10:51

I really like both, sorry that was no help at all. If I had to choose though would probably lean towards Iris.

beanieb · 31/08/2009 10:52

I love them both but particularly Iris.

moonbird · 31/08/2009 11:06

I love them both, but lean more towards Iris.

Servalan · 31/08/2009 11:11

Iris, without a doubt.

Not keen on Frances personally - though love the nn Frankie.

justbeenforapromenade · 31/08/2009 15:48

like Frances but love Iris as it's more immediately pretty - it's a flower and a rainbow (and an eye part) - Frances sounds more serious and pious.

frakkinpannikinAGRIPPA · 31/08/2009 16:20

Only English speakers can pronounce Frances (Fron-cess? France? Fran-ches? Vrunzess?) so I'm going to vote against my own name and say Iris.

19fran76 · 31/08/2009 16:33

I am a Frances. I love my name. It gets my vote. Iris is pretty but fashionable right now. Whereas Frances is unusual but classic. Hurrah for all Frances' worldwide!

ReneRusso · 31/08/2009 16:35

I vote for Iris

missmapp · 31/08/2009 16:57

Iris is lovely
