tummytickler - I really do deeply love the name 'Iris' and looking at your profile your Iris is a true smasher!!!

Jeepers - I think if you don't 'feel' Eve and Mr Jeepers doesn't 'feel' Lucy Alice you need to find a different name you both love! There are so many dreamy girls names out there - there is certainly one for your little one that you both will adore calling when it is dinnertime!

Kiddi · 16/08/2009 01:02

All pretty names but
Iris most uncommon ( i also like Violet)
Lucy common amongst my peers
Eve uber common in DD peers
Alice - makes me think of delicate child, sometimes too delicate.

but I like long odd names, so what do I know.

jabberwocky · 16/08/2009 03:22
  1. Eve
  2. Iris
  3. Alice
  4. Lucy
lilysam · 16/08/2009 09:25

1 - Eve - fab, classic (but really dislike Evie!!) Love Eva to as suggested to.
2 - Iris - lovely

Alice and Lucy are so dull in my opinion, there are so many more wonderful names out there I have never understood the appeal of these. An irrational dislike of mine - sorry

PiggyPenguin · 16/08/2009 09:36

The family have agreed that we like Eve and Alice, but we don't like Iris and Dh really dislikes 'juicy Lucy'.

Sorry!

pamelat · 16/08/2009 09:48

Iris is my favourite but its brave to use it. My family do not like it but so what

Eve is lovely but quite common. I can not imagine anyone not like it.

Alice is ok. I just find it a bit dull (sorry). DH loves the name Alice and so do my family (rest of)

I dont really like the name Lucy. I think it makes me think of a lollipop.

loobylu3 · 16/08/2009 09:52

Jeepers- I really love all of your names!
Lucy and Alice are timeless, classic and pretty. ( I am a Lucy with a sister Alice).
I also love Iris and Eve. The only thing that would slightly concern me with Iris is that a couple of celebs have used it making it potentially a bit too 'trendy'. Eve is a Biblical classic and is gorgeous but is v popular at the moment (or at least similar names such as Evie and Eva are).
Do you need any other suggestions at all?

pamelat · 16/08/2009 09:53

Anna is quite similar to them (the suggested names) isn't it and I love the shortening of Annie.

piscesmoon · 16/08/2009 09:58

Lucy-lovely-top favourite.
Alice-second.
I like Eve but it is very popular at the moment.
Iris is horrible.

Vikelm · 16/08/2009 10:50

My parents couldn't decide on my name - mum liked Victoria, dad liked Louise. I ended up being called Victoria Louise. My dad has always called me Louise and I love that - it's like a special thing between the two of us.

It's never caused too much confusion except when he'd call me it in front of friends who had no idea of the situation - but then a short explanation would sort things out.

So, my suggestion would be to call your daughter Alice Eve and have your OH call her Eve! After all, it's a shame when middle names never really get used, and it'll make her feel special

juuule · 16/08/2009 10:54

Iris - unusual and very pretty (think flowers and rainbows)

Eve - Have always liked this one. Like Evie too.

Lucy - Lovely name. Always had a soft spot for it but know hundreds.

Alice - Nice, but not overly keen. Seem to be a lot of these around too.

LittlePeanut · 16/08/2009 11:01

I love all of those names!

  1. Alice (wish I could have this for a girl's name, but already have a cousin called it)
  1. Eve - beautiful, on shortlist.
  1. Lucy - simple, pretty, lovely.
  1. Iris - more unusual, very pretty name also.

I don't envy you, very hard to choose between them all!

mrsdisorganised · 16/08/2009 11:16

Didin't like Iris until my sister used it, now I think it's lovely!

I like all your names but if it were me I'd go for Lucy. Good luck

BumperliciousVsTheDailyHate · 16/08/2009 11:29

Eve - nice but very common atm
Lucy - Not really a very grown up name
Alice - Bit blah
Iris - Lovely, will suit child and adult alike

shockers · 16/08/2009 11:36

Lucy... my favourite girl's name!
Alice... my lovely niece's name.
Eve... serene.
Iris...agree with Sidge... there are prettier flower names but it's not dreadful.

Ineedsomesleep · 16/08/2009 11:40

1 Lucy, have a lovely friend called Lucy, fab name

2 Alice, has been popular a few years ago but don't know any babies, young girls called this.

3 Eve, will be in a class full of Eves, Evas, Evies, Avas and maybe a couple of Evangelines or Evelyns

4 Iris, just really don't like this name. Always think of unkind, slightly smelly old ladies.

audley · 16/08/2009 13:11

Iris is gorgeous
Lucy is a pretty classic
Alice is a bit prim
Eve is overused

Kiddi · 16/08/2009 16:02

HOw are the votes stacking up?
Any firm decisions yet?

owlandpussycat · 16/08/2009 16:09

Ds would have been some form of Eve so my favourite.

Someone I worked with long time ago called Iris (the virus) instantly comes to mind, so no to that.

angrypixie · 16/08/2009 16:26

My best friend at school was a Lucy and she went through teenage hell as Juicy Lucy or Luce (loose)

Sn0wflake · 16/08/2009 16:39

In order:

Lucy
Alice
Eve
Iris

MamaLazarou · 16/08/2009 17:36

Lucy is my favourite. Alice and Eve are too common, and Iris is the child prostitute from Taxi Driver.

merlin36 · 16/08/2009 18:06

eve is
lovely first choice but not evie
alice classic
lucy like about the same as alice
iris dont like not a nice sounding name. imo

TrillianAstra · 16/08/2009 18:07

Lucy
Alice
Eve
Iris

in that order.
