Would be bloody awful if developed a lisp.

geekgirl · 12/08/2009 11:40

no don't. It sounds completely made up, plus it's a brand name for heavy-duty powertools.

LobstersLass · 12/08/2009 11:41

It sounds ridiculous.

It would never get pronounced like that and he would be called Silly by kids at school.

It's also a make of mattress.

MamaG · 12/08/2009 11:41

It sounds like Whaley or Walrussy

don't do it

HolidaysQueen · 12/08/2009 11:41

Would probably get nicknamed Silly...

HolidaysQueen · 12/08/2009 11:42

ROFL at walrussy

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 11:42

No no no no .. please don't say that .. I have already named him that ... hope he doesn't kill me one day for that!

I wish I has asked for opinion earlier

is your surname Posturepedic?

geekgirl · 12/08/2009 11:43

oh dear! Well you did ask...

Any chance of going with Salvatore?

AitchTwoOh · 12/08/2009 11:43

oh shit, sorry. i think salvatore is an AMAZING name, tbh, i'd be inclined to use that. it's so strong and inspiring.

AitchTwoOh · 12/08/2009 11:46

and tbh i think that silly isn't the worst nickname in the world even if they do pick up on it, which they mightn't.

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 11:46

Now all I can tell him is "What's in a name!" LOL!! Oh dear

Naetha · 12/08/2009 11:46

Salvatore is an awesome name - Sal for short.

Sealey sounds daft (sorry if you've already used it!) and sounds like a nickname or corporate name or something.

If it's too late to change anything, I'd start using Salvatore as his given name, and see how it sticks.

AitchTwoOh · 12/08/2009 11:47

it is awesome, i agree. sal is very cool.

what's the deal with sealey, is it a family surname or something?

Thunderduck · 12/08/2009 11:49

Sealey sounds ridiculous.

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 11:54

Nope! Not a family name or anything of that sort ... we wanted to have a name that was not too common (looks like we have succeeded in having the most unique name for all the wrong reasons!!!)

We had gone thru some websites and decided on this in a matter of 5 mins (after searching for nearly 3 months). So kinda really loved it, me, DH, MIL, SIL everyone! .... we have to be people with bad taste!!

MamaLazarou · 12/08/2009 11:54

It is a type of mattress: Sealy Posturepaedic.

GreatGooglyMoogly · 12/08/2009 11:54

Makes me think of Bones (on TV).

Neel1411 · 12/08/2009 11:58

It is NOT Sealy! Its Sea-lay!!!!!!!! Oh damn!! Didn't think about all this!

OP posts:
AitchTwoOh · 12/08/2009 12:00

well if you love it, and you love him, then that's the main thing. if you were to introduce me to your child with 'his name is sealay' i don't think i'd think anything of it.

oh balls, really. i've just said taht out loud. i do think there's a strong possibility if someone said 'his name is sealay' to me i'd think you'd said silly and be waiting for you to tell me some preposterous name. soz.

geekgirl · 12/08/2009 12:03

but it doesn't ready like 'Sea-lay', it reads like Sealy - just like 'really', 'Dudley', 'Bradley' etc.

geekgirl · 12/08/2009 12:03

"read" I mean

SoupDragon · 12/08/2009 12:05

Have to say it sounds silly. Literally.

you can use his middle name if you're really unsure and let him choose later in life. Having grown up using my middle name it's not something that's entirely without problems but it's not a complete pain.

I see you've already named him so I'm really sorry but since you asked it's awful.

It does read as 'Sealee' rather than Sealay. You are going to spend your life correcting people.
