Annelise - don't like, a bit dated
Bailey - a bit too off-beat
Isla - lovely
Elizabeth - beautiful, timeless, classic
Valentina - nice but needs to go very well with surname to not sound pretentious
Marissa - ok
Rebekah - lovely, timeless

grayal · 16/07/2009 20:55

Annelise - makes me think of a TV character, can't remember who.. Neighbours maybe?

Bailey - nah, sounds like a Christmas drink

Isla - pretty but quite popular at the moment

Elizabeth - classic, nice

Valentina - awful

Marissa - wishy washy

Rebekah - nice, like this spelling.

serinBrightside · 16/07/2009 20:56

Love Elizabeth.

slackrunner · 16/07/2009 20:59

Isla is lovely - not that keen on the others to be honest.

TwoIfBySea · 16/07/2009 21:00

Annelise - ok, bit 80s

Bailey - *hic

Isla - Like a lot

Elizabeth - ok, offers the opportunity to be Lizzie, Beth, Libby etc., whatever dd wants

Valentina - only if you are Italian

Marissa - my Italian cousin's name (her sister is Alessandra) so I'm too bias in favour because of that!

Rebekah - hmmm, again for me it is a family name, used a lot as well so I've gotten too used to it.

forehead · 16/07/2009 21:01

Rebekah is the biblical spelling of the name Rebecca. I like the biblical spelling.

shivermetimbers · 16/07/2009 21:07

I think i am the only one who likes Bailey.

BakewellTarts · 16/07/2009 21:10

Annelise - OK but will be shortened to Anne which is also OK but IMHO a bit plain.
Bailey - Don't do it!!! Its a boys name around here.
Isla - Like this, know a very cute little Isla.
Elizabeth - Classy queenly name.
Valentina - Italian and no not keen.
Marissa - Not sure a bit try hard?
Rebekah - Love this although prefer the non biblical spelling Rebecca (but then I am an atheist).

pinkpalace · 16/07/2009 21:13

Annelise - The girl from neighbours

Bailey - To chavy (sorry)

Isla - Beautiful

Elizabeth - Lovely, classic

Valentina - If you have an italian surname

Marissa - (see Bailey)

Rebekah - Nice spelt this way (especially if you are jewish)

Good luck for your new arrival!

MaggieBeBold · 16/07/2009 21:16

Annelise - quite nice. Prefer Anneliese spelling. Prefer Annabel though.

Bailey - no. woof woof. sickly sweet licqueur. Girl or boy? Dreadful.

Isla - like this one, but very of the moment.

Elizabeth - lovely, and could be Eliza, Libby or Beth. Lovely.

Valentina - Lovely, lovely. Also love vivien and valerie

Marissa - no. a very hissy sound. Unattractive. Marianne though is so pretty and classy I adore it.

Rebekah - abrupt sounding and a bit blah. Too many grown up ones maybe. I really love Rachel though. Rarer and prettier.

Hth.

pasturesnew · 16/07/2009 21:17

I started typing and realised I was just repeating pinkpalace, only diff. as follows:
Bailey = a surname so maybe OK as a middle name but not a good girl's name, sorry.
Marissa = the O.C. but I kind of quite like it.

MaggieBeBold · 16/07/2009 21:19

ps, can you give us a hint of your sur name?

Piaccentini, Baker, Smith, O'Brien, MacKenzie.

Which of those has the closest vibe to your sur name?

MaybeAfterBreakfast · 16/07/2009 21:19

Annelise - thick blonde from Neighbours

Bailey - foul drink

Isla - nice

Elizabeth - lovely (would have liked to call a dd this if I'd had one)

Valentina - awful

Marissa - awful. Used to work with one who was evil, so am biased.

Rebekah - makes me think of that dreadful tabloid editor. Like it spelt properly.

MaggieBeBold · 16/07/2009 21:21

Elizabeth could also be Elsa for short which is beautiful. Or is that a leap?!

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 16/07/2009 21:25

Like Isla best and Bailey worst

slowreadingprogress · 16/07/2009 21:47

Annelise - very nice
Bailey - truly awful and ugly and chavvy
Isla - ok but not pretty
Elizabeth - One of the best names EVER and so much scope for personal nicknames
Valentina - beautiful, classy though Val or Tina for nicknames? eek
Marissa - nothing special, not pretty
Rebekah - Rebecca far prettier. Rebekah makes me want to make silly faces while I'm sayin git

slowreadingprogress · 16/07/2009 21:48

sayin git = saying it

LOVE my typo there

that has made my night

FritesMenthe · 16/07/2009 21:52

Annelise - no
Bailey - no no no
Isla - yes
Elizabeth - yes & plenty of options for shortening
Valentina - yes, i know one of Spanish origin
Marissa - hmm, probably not
Rebekah - yes but spelt Rebecca

MrsMattie · 16/07/2009 21:54

Love Valetina

Like Elizabeth.

Prefer spellings Annalise and Marisa.

Rebekah OK.

Bailey - horrid.

isla - meh.

liliputlady · 16/07/2009 21:56

Lots of pretty names here. I like names which are difficult to shorten; so would probably go for Isla. I also think of a 4 year old learning to spell her name - Elizabeth would be challenging although a lovely name!

Leea5 · 17/07/2009 00:15

Thanks for the opinions!! Last name is Weber if that helps. open to suggestions from looking at my style in names.
