DH loves it - I like it, but am not sure if it is too "old" - any thoughts?!

as an aside, a friend of mine was going out with a boy at uni called Stan, then they broke up, and a different friend hurridly emailed her

"sorry to hear about you and Satan" yikes!

i think its quite a cool name myself.

Maninadirndl · 09/07/2009 16:32

Brings to mind Hilda Ogden....

"Stan-LEEEEEY!"

Guaranteed a great job on the bins with a name like that.

JemL · 09/07/2009 16:33

If we used it, I think it would be Stanley, with Stan for short - rather than just Stan.

DH loves it and it is definitely growing on me...!

Hilda Ogden was a bit before my time

oliverboliverbutt · 09/07/2009 16:36

awful.

whostolemyname · 09/07/2009 18:05

love it

Frasersmum123 · 09/07/2009 18:26

I like it, but it reminds me of the Eminem song where Stan murders his girlfriend at the end.

But I still like it

MrsKitty · 09/07/2009 18:30

Also love it. My DH not so keen though unfortunately.

JemL · 09/07/2009 19:40

I'd forgotten about that song...!

Sorry

Fantastic name. Classic proper name but very cool right now and not yet too popular but think it will get more popular in future. Both full and short names are great. Go for it.

pippylongstockings · 09/07/2009 21:02

I really like it - just heard a little boy being called it in the park the other day - and I too had a bit of a 'Oh damm - we should have called our DS that' type moment!

In fact we even had a in depth discussion about it .... however he is 2 so clearly would be bonkers to change his name!

I think it's great.

random · 09/07/2009 21:03

No

Remotew · 09/07/2009 21:18

I love it now, Stanley was my dad's name and we thought it so embarrassing many years ago. It's back in fashion but not too common yet. Of the 'Grandad cool' ilk.

A couple of guys I know who have a surname e.g Standing etc like to be known as Stan.

LyraSilvertongue · 09/07/2009 21:21

Like it.

EyeballsintheSky · 09/07/2009 21:22

Love it, really really love it.

hester · 09/07/2009 21:23

I really like it.

jellybeans · 10/07/2009 17:46

I really don't like it, sorry. Not keen on old mens names.
