Spunky, lively, or tomboy names for girls? Any ideas?
I'm thinking along the lines of

Storm
Tempest
Stevie
Jessie
Alexi
Regan
Morgan
Jade
Blais
Roxy
Hayden
Vita/Zita
Blak e
Saskia? (i think i'm hearing 'sassy' in this lol. Still sounds like a lively person though.)

Any others that you'd associate? Even if they are more traditional names that for you conjure this sort of image.

Jbck - lovely name

I loved Jude but knew a Judith at school who called herself that and she was a bit of an arse so that ruined it for me - still love it though

My niece is called Andie and is a real girly girl and my daughter is Olivia and is the biggest terror/tomboy!!

How can Margaret be back?? I must be living in a parallel universe or something. 'Margaret' is a name for old aunties. I'm usually pretty indifferent on names but Margaret? Each to their own I suppose. I'll just go and hide back in my own Universe.

STW I quite like Tempest (thinking about 'Bones'), Jessie and Stevie.
I have Winifred on my names list because I think Winnie is sweet for a little girl, but there is also the option for Freddie.
I agree Margaret is a cool name, lots of kids called Alfie and Archie attest to the popularity of 'older' names.
Maggie, Meg, Peggy, Gretal, Margie, Rita lots of variations available for Margaret.

The character in Bones is called Temperance, not Tempest though.

how is Fanny a tomboy name?!

mrsnoname · 28/06/2009 18:12

Darcy

mrsnoname · 28/06/2009 18:14

The meaning of the name Darcy is Dark One (would definitely suit a tomboy )

The origin of the name Darcy is Irish

chosenone · 28/06/2009 18:22

sorry was thinkng Fanny might fit the criteria for lively or spunky!

Overmydeadbody · 28/06/2009 18:24

Tempest is great.

MrsMattie · 28/06/2009 18:25

Zora? I wanted it for my DD, after the writer Zora Neale Hurston, but DH vetoed.

I met a girl called Fin a few weeks ago - must be short for Finoulla, I thought...but actually her name was Seraphina and it was Phin. Cool.

BellasYummyMummy · 28/06/2009 20:14

Taylor
Hero
Hayden
???

Lou2222 · 28/06/2009 20:51

I have a 3 year old Sadie who is a brilliant, hilarious tomboy and rules the Play Group with her best friend Zara, I did want to call her Ursula which I think is great but DH objected!

Theresa · 28/06/2009 21:04

I know sisters aged about 7 & 9 called Sadie and Esme whihc i think are fab!

mrswill · 28/06/2009 21:15

Jude, Jerry, and Alexi really stand out to me reading this. Im usually a fan of traditional names, mostly welsh, and as a rule dont like any different ish sounding names, but i could even change my mind for these! I love the welsh name 'seren', it doesnt sound too girlie, and not too common where we are from. Which of your names do you prefer OP??

pranma · 28/06/2009 21:21

Jo- Joanna
Sammi-Samantha
Stevie-Stephanie
Ronnie-Veronica
With any of these the nickname works well but my two favourites are Robyn and Tamsin[Tammy]
