Alexander AND Atticus?

We have a DS1 Alexander, we are thinking of ttc again. If we do and if we have a boy I want to call him Atticus but my DH thinks it will sound weird having an Alexander and an Atticus. I think the amount of times you actually say the names together it doesn't matter PLUS I LOVE the name Atticus.

Opinions?

I think it's a great name, and both together are good too.

I like the name Atticus, it sounds good with Alexander as well.

My cousin is called Atticus. We were all a bit surprised initially but he's now in his early teens and an exceptionally well rounded child, clearly likes being called Atticus becasue he suggested I call my baby it too. It suits him beautifully. Go for it. Can't see any reason why it wouldn't go with Alexander either.

lol, I can't think of one baby name thread where everyone likes the name. That would be boring.

Libra you are absolutely right, I've just been told that DD3's name is awful and sounds like a china dolls name

I couldn't care a jot as I like it and I don't think we're on here for 100% reassurance - if I got that I'd probably change my mind and go for something else

Alexander is nice, I have never heard of Atticus and so it does sound strange to me. If I was your DS2, I would be gutted that I had not been born first and got the name Alexander.

I sort of think that it's best to give your kids equally popular names. Both my kids have popular names - I think if I wanted a more unusual name, I would have done the same for both kids.

I've not heard of the name Atticus. Sounds very Roman and regal to me. I'm not sure I like it really, but people would get used to it.

I have really unusual name, older brother got the normal name. Hated it as a kid. Be prepared for primary school kids to be unkind.
My mum gave me a normal middle name, and said I could choose between them if I didn't like it. Kept the unusual one, love it now I'm an adult, realise kids will tease each other no matter what, its your attitude to it that makes the difference. Gave mine the most normal names! That said, love Atticus, character in one of my favourite books!

I don't like Atticus at all.

My big lazy cat is called Atticus. Too poncey for me as a child's name. I don't think it is overly teasable though - not until everyone's read To Kill A Mocking Bird. There are far worse names about

My 8 year old nephew is Atticus and he loves his name. Really suits him!

What an interesting name choice. I like it. But then To Kill a Mockingbird was my favourite book for a while as a teenager. Is that what gave you the idea?

A friend mentioned that one of her friends named one of her children Atticus and I just thought wow I love that name. I do know the To Kill a Mockingbird reference but haven't read it in YEARS. Would give very normal second name, probably something like Thomas.

Syb, the thing about children being unkind is that if they are going to tease a child then they will find SOMETHING to tease them about IYSWIM.

They sound fine together. My only advice would be to have different middle initials to prevent confusion over post.

I don't like Atticas. it's abit too OTT IMO.

I like the name but I have 2 girls with the same first initial and it drives me nuts!!!!

not worried about their mail when they get older, am sure can sort that out when they start to get some

i love atticus and would have used it if we'd had a boy, sigh. instead we had our 3rd girl so called her Harper (To Kill a Mockingbird fan). guess I'll have to settle for getting a goldfish and name it atticus.
