Alexander AND Atticus?

We have a DS1 Alexander, we are thinking of ttc again. If we do and if we have a boy I want to call him Atticus but my DH thinks it will sound weird having an Alexander and an Atticus. I think the amount of times you actually say the names together it doesn't matter PLUS I LOVE the name Atticus.

Opinions?

I think it goes very well with Alexander
the only thing I can think of is that Alexander can have a nickname but not sure what nn you can put for Atticus, if you're bothered about that

I think the fact that it goes well with Alexander says more more about Alexander than it does Atticus. And that is the nicest way I can put it.

don't think the same starting initial is a huge problem...

but i don't like 'atticus' at all. heard it in the playground the other day and it just sounded daft to me.

my rule of thumb for boys' names is not to pick anything too 'out there' - this is based on a good friend called edwin telling me just how bad it had been going through secondary school with that name......

Lovely names. But your dh has to agree!

I think it would be easier to find a new DH than find a name we both agree on....

Libra, I had that problem. The girl's name was easy. But the boy's name was a serious negotiation. There has to be something you can meet in the middle on. If you choose a name one of you loves and the other hates, then the one who hates it will forever be reminded of his/her resentment every time the child's name is spoken.

I would never allow my child to be called something I really hated. Over my dead body. And your DH may or may not feel that strongly. But, surely there is some middle ground. Perhaps you both need to be willing to consider the name will be one you both like but neither of you loves.

Where I live Alexander is extremely common very popular and Atticus would be considered completely wild a bit more unusual...and they wouldn;t seem an obvious choice of sibling names - it would always be seen that one sibling had the normal name and one had the "more out there" name which could cause jealousy going in both directions.
