Hugo
Miles
Oscar
Anthony

None of those are fashionable are they?

nappyaddict · 17/06/2009 01:59

Alexa and Harriet are very popular. Love the others though

Surprisingly Arthur is also quite popular as is Edward which you probably know. I like Michale and Stephen.

If you like Edwin and Edward but can't have them how about Edgar/Edwin/Edbert/Edison/Edmund?

LaDiDaDi · 17/06/2009 09:18

Thanks all.

I like Hugh in preference to Hugo. Miles is good too. No to Oscar and Anthony.

Christopher fits my criteria but I can't use it for a complicated reason.

Not sure about the variants on Edward/Edwin, none of them really jump out at me.

I wish that National Statistics had published proper name popularity tables for 2008 so I could see what is zooming up the charts.

I like Hugh and Hugo. Miles is nice but also zooming up the charts it seems.

LaDiDaDi · 17/06/2009 18:15

Is it nappyaddict?

Hector
Vincent
might get on the list.

bumptwitknocker · 17/06/2009 19:01

Isaac.

hoping4thebest · 17/06/2009 20:14

Abe
Christopher shortened to Kit
Noah
Love Jethro (despite the comedian and I don't like Jeff as nn.)

nappyaddict · 17/06/2009 20:14

Love Hector and Vincent. Yep I know quite a few baby Miles at the moment. Even more Isaacs.

janeite · 17/06/2009 20:16

Harriet Ruth
Tobias Noah

Sorted!!

LaDiDaDi · 17/06/2009 23:23

What does everyone think of Jed? Too nicknamey?

I like your choices janeite, will have to convince dp though!

fortyplus · 18/06/2009 00:06

I know a Jed who is 60

bumptwitknocker · 18/06/2009 15:22

I know a Jed who is atleast 75...

Zil131 · 18/06/2009 16:33

i know a Ged - it's short for Gerard (he is 40), but I like it.

TheRedSalamander · 18/06/2009 21:20

Love Hugh. DS2 was very nearly Hugh, if there is ever a major slip up and we have another baby (that turns out to be a boy!) then he will be Hugh.

Cecily is my fave girls name.

janeite · 18/06/2009 21:56

Sorry but I really don't like Jed. I just want to add an 'i' to the end. Tis very different to the solid, old fashoned type names you've mentioned before.

janeite · 18/06/2009 21:56

fashioned

shockers · 18/06/2009 22:05

Jethro
Felix
Jude

shockers · 18/06/2009 22:09

Bryony
Jemima

LaDiDaDi · 19/06/2009 09:25

I like Jemima, I don't think dp does and I do wonder if it's a bit frilly iyswim.

Jed is a bit different to the others isn't it?

Veering towards Elliott for a boy today.

stroppyknickers · 19/06/2009 09:29

Rachel? Orla? Mabel?

LaDiDaDi · 19/06/2009 10:03

Mabel is nice.

Not sure about Rachel, sometimes I think it sounds very harsh and I hate Rach but it does fit with my criteria.

Orla is lovely but I think it would sound silly as a sib for Laura.

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 19/06/2009 13:54

I like Mabel, Felix and Jude. My main criteria for names were that I couldn't know more than 2 children with it so for me Jemima, Orla, Rachel and definitely Elliott would be out.
