Recently posted a boys list on here and received lots of helpful feedback. Have got around to the girls now. They are a bit unusual as DH has a preference for less popular names and also has some Spanish and Greek blood in him! Here goes:

Paloma
Penelope
Aurora
Ariadne
Allegra
Elodie
Aurelia
Dulcie
Lydia

There are quite a few still- more like a long list really!!

Wow, twentiethC, that is one hell of a name!

And I was getting nervous of using Felix for DS2.

peppapig3 · 27/05/2009 21:49

How about Pandora instead of Paloma?

Wolfblass · 27/05/2009 22:26

Paloma - great if you have connection with origin
Penelope - actually starting to love it
Aurora - disney princess?
Ariadne - quite like
Allegra - not my cup of tea
Elodie - gorgeous, love it
Aurelia - not sure
Dulcie - again not sure
Lydia - love it

ah hem. Vauxhall didnt make the Allegro. Austin did.

Peppapig3 - Most people have really liked it (or seemed to anyway!). We generally call her Meda, which is a family name, short for Andromeda.

We figured that if she hates it when she grows up she could shorten it to Annie, or use a middle name instead (both her middle names are reasonably common). Andromeda means 'leader of men' which I'm very pleased about!

I was really nervous about choosing something unusual but I'm soooooooo glad we did.

Suwoo - Felix is a beautiful name

Poppity · 28/05/2009 18:46

I love most of these, but some I think would benefit from some pre-empting on what they are shortened to unless you(and your DD) are very good at sticking to using the full name. I've found that people do tend to pick up on and then copy what you call them, and by the time school arrives, it is set.

Paloma- so elegant
Penelope- don't like this so much, it will be shortened to Pen
Aurora- top of my list, we were planning on Roar as a pet name(!)
Ariadne- beautiful again, I know someone with this name who is usually called Addi, which is pretty
Allegra- lovely, needs a defined shortening, or could become Al
Elodie- so pretty, I love this one.
Aurelia- I really like this, what would it be shortened to though?
Dulcie- very pretty
Lydia- I do like this, but she will be known as Lid which is not very pretty really...

Thank you v much to everyone for their opinions- a real mix compared to the boy's thread. I think we are narrowing the list down anyway!!
