What do you think? Do you think it goes with Oliver? DP is ok with it, but likes it better as a middle name. This name malarkey is killing me!

I love this name.

It's so pretty and it's a pretty colour too. Goes great with Oliver.

DH won't have it because it makes him think of 'violent' which is cobblers imo.

I also love Violetta and Viola but perhaps I'm being pretentious.

thesockmonsterofdoom · 20/05/2009 09:27

Love it.

MarshaBrady · 20/05/2009 09:35

Really like Violet, and it goes very well with Oliver.

Katypeach · 20/05/2009 09:49

Fabulous name. Very ladylike.

Claireykitten · 20/05/2009 09:53

Beautiful name.

I am a little biased though as I have a beautiful 7 week old Violet Rose whose brother is an Oscar and they seem to go well together so yes I think it goes well with Oliver.

hobbgoblin · 20/05/2009 09:55

I love Violet too but perhaps possibly doesn't blend well with surname. It does stylistically but makes the 'toliver' sound a bit when I try it.

tonysoprano · 20/05/2009 09:56

love it, very sweet but strong when older and still quite unusual. go for it.

oysterpots · 20/05/2009 09:58

I love that name. Really love it. DH not so keen What is it with men and their aversion to beautiful names?

jasper · 20/05/2009 10:01

lovely

nooki · 20/05/2009 12:00

Is Oliver your surname (in which case I'm not keen on the combination) or your ds's name (in which cas I think they go well together)?

dizzydixies · 20/05/2009 14:30

I love Violet but our name begins with a D and I just couldn't give her the initials V.D

KAEKAE · 22/05/2009 18:11

No, Oliver is my 20 month old son. Lawrence is the surname. WinkyWinkola - I now think Violent too after reading your post...lol so its slightly put me off!

love violet beautiful name, and goes fine with oliver

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 23/05/2009 07:00

Gorgeous name.

Thunderduck · 23/05/2009 11:00

Love it.

BunnyLebowski · 23/05/2009 11:22

Gorgeous name! Feminine and pretty but slightly quirky and definitely cool!

The "violent" argument is ridiculous. Like saying don't use Rose because it sounds like roast.....stoopid!

Go for it!

Quiltedrose · 23/05/2009 20:25

I love Violet as a name and it was the name of one of my nannas

I heard a woman in Boots the other week say 'Come here Violet' and I thought it sounded fab.

janeite · 23/05/2009 20:28

Love it and it goes beautifully with Oliver.

Alishanty · 23/05/2009 20:35

Really nice. My 4 yr old sister is called Violet. Just hope it doesn't get too common.

NBM · 23/05/2009 20:56

My DD is called Violet so obviously is a gorgeus name.

numal · 23/05/2009 21:07

Oliver and Violet are almost the same collection of vowels and consonants.
Both individually nice but maybe not together.

Bleatblurt · 23/05/2009 21:10

I love it.

ohdearwhatamess · 23/05/2009 21:18

Love it! A friend's lovely dd has this name, so I'm a bit biased.

womma · 23/05/2009 22:52

Lovely! I had a bonkers great-aunt called Violet, or Aunty Vi. She was an ardent royalist and she knitted a cardi and some booties for Prince William when he was born, bless'er!

sleepyhead3 · 24/05/2009 08:37

v pretty and goes well with Oliver
