Just been watching Britains Got Talent and there was a contestant named

MERLIN

And Im loving it????

I love it. I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to use it but you should.

Merlin is fine as a name you adopt yourself because you are a geeky D&D player (that probably should be WoW now). But to give it as a first name to your child is not I think brave. At least it won't be you being brave, but them.

Why don't you try it out for a few days on yourself and your dh, and see how it works, what sort of reaction you get, how comfortable you feel. And then consider it for your child. But do bear in mind it is incredibly iconic. As yet there are no other famous Merlins apart from the Arthurian one, so that is the association everyone will have.
