Ds has just started pre-school and there are some unusual names there, some I love and some not so keen on, but its interesting to see new names I hadnt heard of/considered before!
I live in a pretty conservative area.

Some are

Harmarnie (girl)
Indiana (girl)
Eden (boy)

What unusual ones have you got?

No really odd ones. There is a family that have named all 7 of their children with names beginning with J, though.

I assumed that Harmarnies parents liked the name Hermione but changed the spelling (or didnt know how it was spelt - perhaps snobbish of me!)

Velvet

IheartNY · 01/05/2009 18:57

Its odd that there is an Indiana in Ds's class as thats my absolute dream name which I would have named one of my boys if I had been brave enough (they've both got names which could not be called unusual lol)

There is also an Anastasjia - is this the usual spelling or is it a variation?

I think Velvet is gorgeous and would use Ettie as a nn

andlipsticktoo · 01/05/2009 18:58

Carenza
Melody
Raven
Raphael
Tianna (vomit)
Marly
Darwin
Romin
I'm sure there are more!

IheartNY · 01/05/2009 18:59

I like Melody and Raphael (was on my list for ds2 but vetoed by DH!)

DD has friends called Tanika, Christie-Eden, Fayme and Seriann

We have three Courtneys at the school I work at, so I wouldn't have thought of that as unusual.
There was a girl who was registerd at school as PJ but she was always called Anna.
We also had Parisa a few years ago.

nevergoogledragonbutter · 01/05/2009 19:25

at greensleeves.

another strategy is to only name one unusual name, that can't be crossmatched.

tummytickler · 01/05/2009 19:42

Serendipity, Daffodil, Sapphire, Tiger (boy)

frazzledoldbag · 01/05/2009 22:22

I heard of a Chevrolet today (girl) who is at secondary school here.

KateF · 01/05/2009 22:33

Harmony, Liberty and Eden (triplet girls)

pollywobbledoodle · 01/05/2009 22:42

Tracy (girl obviously- don't hear these days)
Wayne (boy - as above)
Elsie Sparkle (Sparkle is the middle name)
