I do like Indiana!

I'd go for Bran though. Can't remember if it's Welsh or Irish but it means Raven.

kalo12 · 04/05/2009 22:05

i love tarzan, i call my ds Tarzan, but its not his name, he's much more conventional out in the street.

TheLadyEvenstar · 04/05/2009 22:07

DS1 was going to be Phoenix, but my mum hated it so i let her name him...was better than what his sperm donor father wanted. And actually his name is rather plain but suits him.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 04/05/2009 22:13

orangina i am intrigued i have given ds5 a giddy greek name!

orangina · 05/05/2009 11:38

You have 5 ds's Paula?!?!?! I am in awe!

(g'won, tell me his name!)

We gave ds a lovely greek name, but not as mythological as some others......!

jumpingbeans · 05/05/2009 11:53

Ohhhh I love Lloyd, I am the only person in whole world ?I think

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 05/05/2009 22:34

oooh orangina i cant put it on here - someone might lurrrrve it so much that it ends up terribly popular

doubtful !! but possible!

orangina · 06/05/2009 12:01

Haha! I will assume your ds is called agamemnon then (can't see that catching on everywhere, you're safe!)

sajaruss · 06/05/2009 13:03

Another name that would never catch on, and would be completely inappropriate (and, to many, offensive), is Judas - but forgetting, if you can, all negative associations, I think is actually a nice name. Jude would be a much better alternative though!
Not, as my partner wanted if we had a son (luckily we had a girl, otherwise there would have been a battle) - Atom.

Arthur/Art?
I agree with a previous poster that Finn is a great name.

bumpsoon · 06/05/2009 16:16

oh my god i love the name 'winter' ,further down thread and it would go with my surname ,right thats it ,thats my unborn childs name should it be a boy

schneebly · 06/05/2009 16:28

I really love classic (slightly pretentious when you are from a very working class background) sounding names like Gabriel, Hugo and Dante

On the flip-side I have a dream of naming children after musicians I like - so more along lines of Dylan, Hendrix, Garfunkel..okay well maybe not Garfunkel

DH would rather die than call any of our childen anything that is not 'normal aounding'

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 06/05/2009 21:41

sajaruss WOW i said just that to dp on sunday after dancing like a maniac to Jesus Christ superstar

Judas is a beautiful name

pasturesnew · 06/05/2009 21:47

Fabian

Jordan (if it had no connotations with boobs etc. and just meant the river)

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 06/05/2009 21:55

agree with both of those - gorgeous!

boodleboot · 07/05/2009 15:02

i love Thor. our kitten got this lovely name though as it would never be allowed for a boy....i also love Jonsi.

MamaMimi · 08/05/2009 11:40

If others opinioins really didn't matter, particularly dp's, I would call a son GROVER.

It's not such a whacky name really, it's just it's connection with the sesame street character (who I love) that would put people off, but it is an actual name also, eg, American president Grover Cleveland.

Anyway, expecting dd2 (last one) so it definitely won't happen!

ArcticLemming · 08/05/2009 11:52

Teilo or Govan

Ned, short for Edward - love it, and fits perfectly as Edward is a family name, but it will not go with our surname P
Kit (short for Christopher)
Jolyon
Oscar & Jake - were my favourite names, I cursed them becoming so popular!
Casper
Jude
Rowan

frazzledoldbag · 13/05/2009 02:33

oooh just popped on MN as think I may be in early labour and noticed that this thread which I started is active!! Hurrah - is this a sign?
Still no name for my little DS (who is possibly about to make his way out shortly................)
DH and I still can't agree so come on and HELP!

I nearly had Rufus for ds2 but chickened out at the last minute - still love it though; have it on the back-burner if we're ever lucky enough to have ds3!

I also love Julian but dh vetoed it passionately - apparently it is not masculine enough

IrritableGrizzly · 13/05/2009 05:30

Blimey, just read pp properly - hope it all goes well for you and best wishes

Oh yes, how about Llewellyn, that's another favourite of mine that wasn't allowed. Very noble name.

insywinsyspider · 13/05/2009 12:51

Casper (dh said it was a cats name )
Kai - apparently its chavy I think not

Harimad · 13/05/2009 15:42

Bryn (DH won't agree)
Gabriel (friend has just named her DS2 it)
Gil (Gilbert - DH not keen)
Ivan - working hard on getting DH to agree to!

boodleboot · 13/05/2009 15:58
