Matilda Matilda Matilda Matilda.

Claudia is a 40 year old's name.

MrsJamin · 19/04/2009 10:04

I like Claudia but love Matilda. However Matilda was No. 52 in the top 100 girls names of 2008 - so quite popular, if that is important to you to avoid. Would have thought Claudia would be more unusual.

hoppybird · 19/04/2009 10:05

I really like the name Claudia. There is a series of novels by Rose Franken whose main character is Claudia. It's set in 1930s America, and Claudia is a wide-eyed young innocent finding her way in the world. The name always makes me think of that character.

rubyslippers · 19/04/2009 10:05

popularity doesn't bother me so much

I think Claudia is pretty - growing on me

I hate Matilda, it's horribly ugly (okay, imho), and always makes me think of that vile Roald Dahl story.
Claudia is simply gorgeous -- magnificent.
Tilda (Tilly) is good.

SlartyBartFast · 19/04/2009 10:09

claudia does seem to be popular on MN
i prefer it to matilda.

Leannabanana · 19/04/2009 12:56

i really do't like matilda....claudia is great.

alarkaspree · 19/04/2009 12:58

a baby name thread! what's wrong with asking meeeeee?

i have decided:

if it is a girl, she will be Ruby

it it is a boy, he will be Toby

although i still hanker after Posy

rubyslippers · 19/04/2009 13:39

erm Lulu - i don't actually like Toby

DH has vetoed Ruby

there are three names we agree on - we aren't doing too well

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 19/04/2009 13:41

we did not have one name we both like for a boy or a girl and DS decided in the end, and then she became known by her nickname anyway

rubyslippers · 19/04/2009 13:41

oh i do - it rocks!

hulabula · 19/04/2009 13:47

I would never use Claudia because of its meaning....

rubyslippers · 19/04/2009 13:48

Thunderduck · 19/04/2009 14:32

I love Claudia. I think it's beautiful.

LuluisgoingtobeanAunty · 19/04/2009 15:21

i don;t thikn it matters a jot
it is a gorgeous name

screamingabdab · 19/04/2009 17:07

I like Claudia, much more than Matilda, because I think it's much more suitable for a teenager, and an adult.

broguemum · 19/04/2009 17:12

I have a cousin Claudia who is known by her English speaking relatives as Chloe or Cloudie. I like it but the meaning of the name bothers me a bit. Shouldn't do but it does.

Matilda - I love the meaning and all the short versions - Tilly, Tilda, Mattie, Milly, Maudie, Maude....

Both lovely names.
