26 weeks pregnant and struggling for a name. DS is Billy. DH is very keen on Katy. I am still undecided as wanted something less popular but suffering from total lack of inspiration. what do you think of Katy and would you go for
Katy Grace
Katy Louise or
Katy Rose

Katy with a y rocks.

RachieB · 16/04/2009 17:48

I prefer the Katie spelling to Katy

but much much prefer Caitlin NN Cait / Caitie

popsypie · 16/04/2009 20:57

Love Katy - the spelling seems more sweet and mischevious - not sure why. Maybe cos I vaguely recall that the 'what Katy did' girl was spelt Katy. Katy Rose is beautiful. Good luck for the birth.

OAPmum · 22/04/2009 18:54

I love Katy Rose. Although one of my daughters has middle name Louise and I always wished I had given my third daughter Rose as a middle name.

TheOldestCat · 22/04/2009 18:57

Love it - makes me think of 'What Katy Did'.

alittlebitshy · 22/04/2009 19:32

It's true - she may spend her life explaining that she really really is Katy. I got told by the (vip) priest who matried us that I was Katherine .

btw the difference bvetween and ie and a y is a lot when everyone spells you the wrong way . (i'm an ie and HATE being given a y lol)

katylou25 · 22/04/2009 19:45

Yeah I'm a Katy with a Y and I do have to constantly spell it out but do like my name - was Katy till about 12 and then wanted Kate to be cool!! I'm now a Katy again generally, although I seem to write Katy, but if I tell people my name I say Kate.... Lots of people call me Katylou too - my middle name is louise

MrsKitty · 23/04/2009 01:26

Katy Eliza - This has been a favourite in my mind for a few years if we have a DD

branflake81 · 23/04/2009 12:06

Thank God - a nice, normal traditional name!

How refreshing.

Go for it.

Carulli · 08/10/2009 16:26

Katy Eliza?

rocketupbum · 08/10/2009 17:23

I am a Katie/Katherine and it is a pain! I do think the whole wanting a more grown-up name when you grow up is a red herring. Do you know anyone who has changed their name as they have got older?
Also I always have to say my surname when I call people, there are heaps of Katies around in the world! It depends whether you think that is a good thing or bad thing!

EverySingleStar · 08/10/2009 17:38

Know a Katherine Louise who goes by Katy. Quite like Katherine as then she could choose to be Kitty, Kate, Katy, or Katherine when she grows up.

simplesusan · 08/10/2009 23:03

I think it is a nice name though I do prefer Kate not sure why, perhaps more grown up than Katy.
Katy Louise is nice too.

Ivykaty44 · 08/10/2009 23:10

It is a fab versitile name and goes well with Ivy

Ivykaty44 · 08/10/2009 23:16

My dd has not explained to anyone that she is not katherine - i think now Katie is much more a name of its own and people are much more aware that you may well be Katie.

I had a lot of cards when katie was born - my dd2, every single one worte the name Katie, I had written Katy but registered the name Katie as so many people had spelt it that way.

womma · 09/10/2009 13:48

I'm a Katie, and feel very snubbed when addressed as Katy - don't know why but it's just wrong in my book.

Needless to say it's a marvellous name and anyone so called will grow to be a fine woman, the envy of her peers!

pranma · 09/10/2009 14:17

Katy Louisa is a bit more unusual I think Katy[ie]is a lovely name and will never be a problem at any stage of her life.

KERALA1 · 09/10/2009 20:35

I never understand the emphasis on second names on mumsnet! When does anyone ever really use their middle name? Concentrate on getting the first name right and make sure its one that you are happy with. If you think Katy is too popular or you are unsure choosing a more original middle name won't fix that.

LifeOfKate · 09/10/2009 21:46

I'm a Kate who has the nn Katy (spelt with a Y!!) from family. I love my name by the way

DiamondHead · 09/10/2009 22:04

Katy Cecilia
Katy Francesca
Katy Angelica

katnkittens · 09/10/2009 22:15

A Katie here... I like my name except am Catherine on my BC and would much rather have just been Katie, saves a lot of explaining!

I've never known that many Katies. I went to school with one (Im 30) and she wasn't in my year. I currently know one beautiful 7 year old Katie and one grown up Katy.

Sure there are probably more interesting names out there but pretty much everyone likes the name (even if you think it's boring) and your dd will be able to fit in with princes (Kate Middleton) and paupers (Katie Price)

brockleybelle · 10/10/2009 14:54

Katy Scarlett! - I'm a huge Gone with the Wind fan!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 10/10/2009 14:58

katie is v popular among my nursery age group right now, no Katys though. Isn't Katy more traditional ( what Katy did next books ) and Katie a more recent variation.

Lovely name, but prefer Katy
