Jemima, Tabitha or Eliza

Or Clementine? Or Babette?

We're decided on boys names but we just can't agree on girls.

I've tried the JP test on all these names and they all seem ok but I like them all.

Opinions please. What do these five names conjure up for you? And do you know lots of little girls already with these names?

Eliza - was my first choice for dd2 but dh vetoed. Also like Tabitha and Jemima is ok. I like clementine but not sure if it will get shortened and not sure about clem. Babette am not keen on.

Of all the names I only know 1 jemima.

Mooseheart · 15/04/2009 11:54

One of them is my dd2's name.

I know one Jemima, one Clementine, two Tabithas, one Eliza.

One Babette too, but she is in her thirties.

GiraffeAHolic · 15/04/2009 11:56

I love Eliza and wanted it for dd but dp said no.

I love Tabitha and wanted it for dd but dp said no.

d'ya see a pattern

not keen on Clementine (although Clemmie is quite cute)

Jemima always make me think of ducks

jellybeans · 15/04/2009 12:07

Tabitha by far the nicest I think.

chequersmate · 15/04/2009 12:09

Eliza or Tabitha.

Babette I find truly awful, but I can't put my finger on why. Boobies, perhaps?

Cies · 15/04/2009 12:09

I like Tabitha and Clementine.

Not keen on Jemima, but that's all Beatrix Potter's fault.

Eliza's ok, but I prefer Elizabeth.

Babette - no.

goomum · 15/04/2009 12:25

Eliza definitely.

Babette is a showgirl's name.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 15/04/2009 12:28

Eliza

juneybean · 15/04/2009 12:30

Eliza absolutely love it!

BunnyLebowski · 15/04/2009 12:33

Eliza definitely!! It's beautiful!

Babette = husky voiced crazy woman on Gilmore Girls

Eliza definitely.

pointydog · 15/04/2009 13:06

only like Eliza

ItsMargotBeaurEGGarde · 15/04/2009 13:07

I love Jemima but it's very of the moment. Tabitha is horrible. Eliza is beautiful, elegant, classic...

Eliza.

ItsMargotBeaurEGGarde · 15/04/2009 13:09

Clementine, a bit harsh.

Babette. NO, kind of goofy. Not like a really name, like a pet name for your grandma Barbara.

ohdearwhatamess · 15/04/2009 13:24

Eliza. Lovely name.

Indifferent to Tabitha. Makes me think of cats.
Jemima a bit twee for my taste. Ducks.
Don't like Clementine or Babette at all.

Don't know children with any of these names, only adults.

changer22 · 15/04/2009 13:28

I know

2 Elizas
3 Clementines
1 Jemima

1 Tabitha

I love the first 3. Tabitha is ok although the one I know is lovely.

Don't know any Babette - not too keen on it either. A bit 'Miss Babs'?

WinkyWinkola · 16/04/2009 08:41

I liked Babette because I thought it was fun and I love the idea of Betty as a nickname.

I'm still torn! It's Tabitha or Eliza now.

Don't use Babette. It's a brand name for cream & milk in parts of Europe!

Coo. Good job you told me!

Tabitha is a lovely name - cool, sexy, classy and not too popular.
Jemima is a bit wet and Eliza is boring.

gladders · 16/04/2009 11:08

Tabitha - no def not, its a cat's name - will always get shortened to tabby...

Jemima - quite like it but will always be the playschool doll for me?

Eliza - love it.

Clementine - could be sweet - clemmie is lovely

babette - no no no

wabbit · 16/04/2009 11:25

Oi you!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

They're MY lovely name choices that I've put in my closet baby name place

Poo to you I Say! Poo,Poo,Poo
How dare you have such good taste
can't use them - certainly not Tabitha or Jemima... or babette for that matter - or Eliza... I might let you have access to clementine if you ask nicely

womblingalong · 16/04/2009 11:30

Love Tabitha, is DD's middle name, and Eliza, but would name Elizabeth and shorten to Eliza. Not that fond of Jemima or Clementine, they remind me of dolls names.

randomname · 16/04/2009 11:58

Eliza, DS1 would have been this.
