Amarae, Amirae or Amerae?

Just finally decided on our girls name for the unknown DC3 but which speeling do you perfer and now we are stuck on middle names any suggestions?

sorry to be ignorant but is it a name you have created because I have never heard of it before? Have only heard of Amara.

If it is an established name , I think I would take the most frequent spelling of it, since it is unusual in itself. If it a new invention so to speak , I think just take the one that looks best to you. They would all be pronounced the same I think.

I don't think I'd go for the spelling "Amerae" though.

Nope - sounds totally made-up and your poor DD will spend her whole life having to spell it out and explain it to people ("what does it mean? erm, nothing, my parents made it up..." )

Amy, Anna Maria, Amelie - these are all good names, so why try and reinvent the wheel?

It is a name DH thought of, he knew a girl at school called it.

Not good methinks. Amira is quite a popular name, generally for Muslim girls I have taught over the years, and is much prettier than the ones you've suggested imho.

Not one of us has said this is a nice name or a pretty name but you did ask us what we think of it and we told you!

'Hi. Im Jack. What's your name?'

'Amarae.'

'Hi AnneMarie. Nice to meet you.'

'No - Amarae.'

'Amy-Rae?'

No. Amarae......' and so it will go on......

Damn straight GossipMonger - what's the betting that Amarae will demand to be called 'Jane' as soon as she's old enough to have her own view?

It's times like this I wish I was a Continental:
