no

princessmel · 25/03/2009 13:46

the snail

also makes me think of brain.

Fimbo · 25/03/2009 13:48

LOL - it's my dad's name, I think my dm was miffed I didn't use it as a middle name for my ds.

My mother used to occasionally spell it Bryan in cards and stuff to look posh.

HAHAHAHAHA

we had a kid at school nicknamed the russian spy because he was called brian

i have no idea why

StealthPolarBear · 25/03/2009 13:56

I'm really sorry if you like this but please don't use it. It just reminds me of salty water.

sunshineday · 25/03/2009 14:00

I really like this name

Takver · 25/03/2009 14:14

Sweet for a little boy (and fine for a grown-up too)

TigerFeet · 25/03/2009 14:14

I am Brian and so is my wife

MrsMattie · 25/03/2009 14:15

Brian = male pattern baldness

GivePeasAChance · 25/03/2009 14:15

That's cruel

Fimbo · 25/03/2009 14:16

Brian (my dad) used to have a comb over.

Just not retro enough to be cool yet- give it a decade maybe.

MrsMattie · 25/03/2009 14:17

My grandad is a Brian. Maybe that's why I think of bald old men? Whatever. It's vile.

Fimbo · 25/03/2009 14:21

It's one of those names that I can never see coming back into vogue though along with Trevor and Geoffrey.

differentID · 25/03/2009 14:22

People said that about Florence, Mabel and Arthur

screamingabdab · 25/03/2009 14:41

"He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"

screamingabdab · 25/03/2009 14:43

Why not Nigel?

Raahh · 25/03/2009 14:43

I had a house rabbit called Brian. He was cool. Chewed everything to bits, though...

DrNortherner · 25/03/2009 14:46

DS wanted to call our labrador Brian, we said NO.

NO NO NO NO NO.

Peachy · 25/03/2009 14:47

That'smy dad and my BIL's middle name

Sadly BIL hates it and wouldn't recommend it for kids now

As an aside my dad doesn't even know if his name is spelled Brian or Bryan, as his Mum taught him one then the birth cert says the other. Bizarre.

Jojay · 25/03/2009 14:49

Nononononononono

NorbertDentressangle · 25/03/2009 14:51

NO!

Reminds me of a Brian that I went to school with -he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer IYSWIM. He used to write his name as Brain. Oh the irony.

MrsMattie · 25/03/2009 15:31

Yep, and I still cringe at little girls called Mabel and Ivy/boys called Arthur and Stanley.

PrimulaVeris · 25/03/2009 15:35

no no no

Hawkmoth · 25/03/2009 15:36

Oooooh!!!! Ivy and Stanley were my GPs! Having Ivy as a middle name if it's a girl.

I knew someone called Brian who spread a rumour that I had slept with him and I only found out three years later.
