Oh dear, I really like Logan. Does that make me a chav? I mean, I am from Liverpool, so I suppose I must be.

Ridiculous.

Brittany Spear's son is called Jayden.

TiggyR · 12/03/2009 11:42

Oh, well she's probably more responsible for it than Will Smith then! Haven't come across another Apple yet - strange that!

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 12/03/2009 11:45

I think Jaiden in Will Smith's case was because of his mum's name, Jada. Their daughter is Willow, like Will.

Fun!

chaya5738 · 12/03/2009 11:53

Ek, what a narcissist. I wonder if his wife gets any of their next children named after her side of the family.

I quite like Willow though. Or Willa.

TiggyR · 12/03/2009 12:02

Willow was a hot contender for a girl when I was expecting DS1 who is 16 now. I still really like it - I think it sounds really romantic and ethereal!

TiggyR, I don't really know obviously but I feel in my bones that Celtic names' popularity may start to wane slightly in about (looks at watch) a year

Obviously 99% of Irish people have nothing to do with the IRA or the new Ira or the New murderers or whatever they call themselves, but I feel following the Good Friday Agreement Irish people abroad had more confidence about choosing Irish names. This had an effect on the people around them, as their choices rippled outwards.

I really, really, really, really hope I'm wrong, but if there are signs of re-emerging trouble in NI again, I think it could have a knock-on effect with the vogue for Celtic names.

before anybody tells me I don't know what I'm talking about, I'll say it first, you're right, this isn't based on anything scientific! I just feel Ireland and Scotland and all things Celtic were given their decade on the runway, and now it's time for something else to be new and fashionable.

MrsJoeMcIntyre, I never said Logan was chavvy!!! People are rife with the misinterpretation on here I mereley said it was popular with young Mum's and that was not related to social status- I deliberately avoided confirmation of the chavvy thing as thing that label is wrong. I also had an NB defending that I did not for a second think these names should be "confined" to a particular group! Logan is a lovely name- not what I'd choose (see Scottish names thread) but lovely all the same!

And TheButterflyEffect- your statement brain boggled me! Apologies if anyone read anymore into my unusual/ Sophisticated thing than I meant! I do not see such things as artificial constructs and, as such, I certainly don't think that baby names reflect the demographics more than categories reflecting the innate qualities of the chosen name. If this was the case then surely my own choice of Scottish names would indicate that I lived in Scotland (which I don't) rather than the fact I happen to really like those names and love the meaning and significance of them?!? I may have got that wrong but thinking about it has made my head hurt

MrsJoeMcIntyre · 12/03/2009 13:47

CalaLilly, and breathe.

CalaLilly · 12/03/2009 14:06

Don't worry- not stressed over this in the slightest! Just more confusion with the written word and subjectivity and not expressing clearly what I need. What I'm stressed over is work

kkey21 · 12/03/2009 23:36

MadameCastafiore where did my post say 'not chavvy because they are premiership footballers!'

You should work for 'The Sun' they like to twist things!

Maybe i am wrong but what i was just trying to point out was they are respectable people, not what i class as a chav!
