We don't know what we are expecting however I think dh and I have finally agreed on part of our boys name but need help with what goes with it and our surname (Buxton.

I feel we are running out of time. Please help!

Darwin Buxton sounds nice!

PuppyMonkey · 06/03/2009 13:19

Erm.. don't really like it. Prefer Charles...Charlie.. if you must pay tribute to the big man.

SoupDragon · 06/03/2009 13:20

No.

iwontbite · 06/03/2009 13:23

i like it

rabuxton · 06/03/2009 13:25

Not to be rude, but not interested if you don't like Darwin itself, I just need something cool to go with it...I really don't like Charles and there are little Charlies everywhere!

Twims · 06/03/2009 13:25

It's cool

LittleMissBliss · 06/03/2009 13:25

Darwin Buxton has a nice flow.

Tommy · 06/03/2009 13:25

I think there are too many "n" s in that combination.

Darwin would be a good second name

pagwatch · 06/03/2009 13:25

Sorry . But for me Darwin and spectacular stupidity are eternally linked. I am sure I wouldn't be the only one who would snort. Pointing at something spectacularly dim is always accompanied with mutters of 'Darwin' in this house.

sorry

PuppyMonkey · 06/03/2009 13:27

I can't NOT comment on whether I like/dislike a name on a MN Baby Name thread. It's against my religion.

LittleMissBliss · 06/03/2009 13:27

Darwin Arthur Buxton
Darwin James Buxton

rabuxton · 06/03/2009 13:27

pagwatch - are you religious? or simply don't believe in evolution?

OP posts:
LittleMissBliss · 06/03/2009 13:28

Darwin Henry Buxton
Darwin Benjamin Buxton
Darwin Edward Buxton

rabuxton · 06/03/2009 13:33

LittleMissBliss you are on a roll.
I like Henry that's my Grandads middle name also. I think DH wants Darwin as a middle name though and wouldn't have 1st name of Henry. I may beable to persuade him once the baby is here.

OP posts:
pagwatch · 06/03/2009 13:35

I am not religious and i do believe in evoloution. Why?

Umm - did you click on the link?

MaryBS · 06/03/2009 13:35

The Darwin Awards are awarded every year to the person who has removed himself from the gene pool (ie died) in the most spectacularly stupid was possible. Have a look at the link.

Nothing to do with religion! They ARE very funny in a bad taste way. But you really wouldn't want your child associated with it!

I don't like the name either, sorry .

ramonaquimby · 06/03/2009 13:38

the darwin awards are famous (well to a lot of people!) awards for really stupid ways in which people have died. Maybe not to a lot of peoples tastes tho

choosyfloosy · 06/03/2009 13:42

Great name, but tbh not ideal with Buxton IMO due to the multiple 'n's.

Alfred Darwin Buxton (after Alfred Wallace)?

Or Isambard Buxton i think is fabbola, if Victorian achievers are your thing.

Frederick Darwin Buxton is nice too? I like Fred Buxton as a name.

rabuxton · 06/03/2009 13:43

I hadn't heard of them, but was just checking out the link. Thanks.
I would only think of Charles Darwin, how about everyone else?

OP posts:
AtheneNoctua · 06/03/2009 13:44

This one is my all time fave. Pity it is actually an urban legend.

darwinawards.com/darwin/darwin1995-04.html

AtheneNoctua · 06/03/2009 13:45

at Isambard. You could call him Brunie for short.

LittleMissBliss · 06/03/2009 13:46

William Darwin Buxton

pagwatch · 06/03/2009 13:47

Well everyone I know would also associate it with the awards....and therefore gross stupidity. And having one son with SN I would never pick a name associated with intelligence or lack of....

but perhaps I have been inadvertently hanging out too much with creationists. You never know.

pagwatch · 06/03/2009 13:49

Dammit Athene
that is one of my favs too. I didn't realise it was revealed as an urban legend.

Actually I think I will head back to that site. They are grim but very funny.

HeyMa · 06/03/2009 13:50

rabuxton i'd heard of them but did NOT make the connection.......a bit pretentious to mention it iyam imo people will think of charles 1st....no matter what name you come up with people can find fault.....missbliss had some nice suggestions esp darwin james and darwin henry
