We are expecting our first on June 2nd and really like Imogen Grace. We have had good feedback about the name, but my nan hates it and insists on calling her Grace instead. What do you think of Imogen?

ARAG · 04/03/2009 20:38

Beautiful!

LilyBolero · 04/03/2009 20:39

Lovely name! Imogen is quite popular atm, and Grace is exceedingly popular, but it is beautiful and won't date.

Lilyloo · 04/03/2009 20:40

Lovely Grace seems to go with everything
We used Grace as a middle name for dd1 but then wish we had kept it to use for dd2 first name !

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:42

Very very lovely. I think sometimes older generations don't 'get' Imogen. It's DD's middle name and my mother was a bit baffled by it at first. Swore she had never heard of it, couldn't work out how to spell or pronounce it and expressed enormous surprise that it was actually in the top 100 "Well I've never heard of it" (inferring that I must have made it up).

I pointed out that she should pay more attention to her Shakespeare and that Imogen is the perfect Shakespearian princess in Cymbelline.

She has now completely come round to it and loves it.

treacletart · 04/03/2009 20:44

I have an Imogen, so I'm biased, but I love it! She's Mimi for short. My parents weren't keen either at the time but I've had nothing but positivre feedback and I think my parents realise its not a whacky name now.

philopastry · 04/03/2009 20:45

Gorgeous!

traceybath · 04/03/2009 20:46

lovely and love 'imo' for short.

onadietcokebreak · 04/03/2009 20:46

I adore the name Imogen Grace. If I am ever blessed with another baby and its a girl then it would be top of my list.

Name her what you want......ignore friends and family...

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:47

Oh by the way - I thoroughly recommend not discussing potential baby names with family members.

It is almost impossible to find something that everyone likes and you will end up with a compromise. Choose a name that you and DH truly love and it will make you happy every day. I smile just thinking about DDs name .

rachels103 · 04/03/2009 20:48

Imogen is lovely, and on our short list. I'm very encouraged by all these positive comments!

RachieB · 04/03/2009 20:49

It's a lovely name

bodiddly · 04/03/2009 20:50

love it!

LiffeyBag · 04/03/2009 20:53

This is an older person thing. My mum insists on calling a child we know called Imogen Emma Jean. arghg!

I like both Grace and Imogen. Imogen Faith!

Pick your favourite. Never mind your Gran. A year from now it'll all be forgotten.

What's your gran's name? could you bung that in as a 3rd name?

jeanjeannie · 04/03/2009 20:57

Love it - adore the name Imogen and they sound lovely together.

Don't worry about your nan - my aunt can't stand my DD1's name (Iris) She said all Iris's are "common and cause trouble".....mind you, she is 79 - I expect our tastes to not be the same!

PinkyMinxy · 04/03/2009 21:28

We have an Imogen/pet name Mimi, too! It is the least 'unusal' name of our 3 children, but we loved the name, and all three have latin names, so it fits.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 04/03/2009 21:31

I like Imogen - came 2nd in the names list when expecting dd2

Littlefish · 04/03/2009 21:34

Lovely name.

Ignore your nan. She'll get used to it.
