Lillian reminds me of that tart from 'Bread'. (showig my age now!)

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 09:44

lilo lil!

I like Mildred and Meredith.

Lilian sounds a bit weak to me. I like a name to have a tiny bit of 'nobody's gonna fuck with me up its sleeve'. So Jillian or Meredith or Mildred all nice imo.!

mrsruffallo · 03/03/2009 10:08

Mildred is baaad

I don't know if anyone has already said this, but Queenie is a nickname if you have the same name as the reigning queen.

Call her Elisabeth.

mrsruffallo · 03/03/2009 10:20

Elisabeth too twee, sorry

How odd, I was reading a book with a Queenie in it just recently and thought 'what a lovely name'. Maybe it's due a revival.

mrsruffallo · 03/03/2009 10:24

Going by this thread i do get that distinct impression, Horton!

MrsR - you are ahead of the curve - celebrate it, and name that child!

seeker · 03/03/2009 13:10

Queenie is a nick name - not a name.

Hang on a minute - Elizabeth is twee, but Queenie isn't??????

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 15:54

It's cool to be about 5 yrs ahead of the curve. Calling your child Trever just to be 30 yrs ahead of the curve is not cool.

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 15:55

Trevor, I mean.

expatinscotland · 03/03/2009 15:57

I wouldn't even name a pet guinea pig that.

LiffeyBag · 03/03/2009 15:58

Listen OP, what about.......

Jeannie

Is that not quite sweet, a bit pretty and it has a bit of that crustiness that Queenie has without being totally scabby??

sorry.

TsarChasm · 03/03/2009 15:59

Little old lady, giant Minnie Mouse shoes, hat and handbag.

princessmel · 03/03/2009 16:04

Don't like Queenie atall.

sorry.

Wigglesworth · 03/03/2009 16:10

Yuk, it sounds like a name for an old terrier dog.

tootyflooty · 03/03/2009 16:15

my first impression is of an old lady, but children do tend to grow into their names. Not a personal fav of mine, I don't know of anyone old or young with that name (or any pets either!).

expatinscotland · 03/03/2009 16:35

I just read a biography about a lady who named one of her daughters this. In about 1750.

Fimbo · 03/03/2009 16:37

Queenie was my gran's best friend. She would be about 108 now if she was still alive...
