I haven't read all of this, but I must say Queenie is an old lady's name!!!

Sycamoretree · 02/03/2009 16:17

yes, Georgimama - thats EXACTLY what I'm saying....

Calm down dears - it's only a baby name thread!

georgimama · 02/03/2009 16:19

Calm down!!???

You appeal for calm on a baby name thread!!!???

LiffeyBag · 02/03/2009 20:21

Well, no.

I can get behind Dulcie, and Elsie and Lois and Edie and loads of old names.

But not Queenie. It just sounds like either an insult, or a chain-smoking blue-haired monarchist.

What about Jeannie?! I really like that! If my parents had been stupid cruel enough to call me Queennie, I'd change it to Jeannie

georgimama · 02/03/2009 20:22

I like Mothballs.....

I struggle to take any baby name thread even slightly seriously since I started one proposing Ketamine, and at least half the responses thought I was serious. Some even liked it.

LiffeyBag · 02/03/2009 20:23

ah now, you've been taking ketamine yourself if that's how your remember it!!!

about 2 people out of 40 thought it was nice!

NotAnOtter · 02/03/2009 20:24

FABULOUS

queenie is from some play ...now who is it by....set in the 50's - the family being re located to a new high rise...anyone???

2pt4kids · 02/03/2009 20:27

It reminds me of Blackadder.
Shocking name (not in a good way)

jojosmaman · 02/03/2009 20:31

I knew a Queenie. Well, when I say knew I didn't actually know her, I just used to see her wandering the streets with an old shopping trolley and a bottle of cheap red shouting f* off to everyone on the street. Thats probably tainted my view slightly.

georgimama · 02/03/2009 20:32

I did say "some". Two counts as "some" to me.

Jojos has just made me spray curry everywhere, must find a baby wipe.

gypsie eastenders fag toting leopard skin trouser wearing hairdresser

seeker · 02/03/2009 20:35

why would you do this to a child? Apart form being horrid, it fails the Kick Ass Lawyer test.

i had a Nanny Queenie, and my Dad seriously thought i would call my daughter after her, I love the name because I loved my Nan but think it is abit old fashioned. That and my surname is Brown!!

georgimama · 02/03/2009 20:47

My test is the name must not sound ridiculous if a child grows up to be a binman or governor of the bank of England.

Mumcentreplus · 02/03/2009 20:49

I dunno....Old Cockney Granny comes to mind ...

how about gertrude? gertie or trudie for short

tigerdriver · 02/03/2009 21:07

You cannot be serious.

Queenie can only be an old dear with dyed orange hair and grey roots and the compulsory fag.

MagNacarta · 02/03/2009 21:11

I used to know a Grace Queenie she was a very cute and her name seemed quite lovely. The old lady connotations didn't really register tbh.

Mumcentreplus · 02/03/2009 21:11

Just cut to tha chase and name the kid Mildred.....coz millie is cute

mrsruffallo · 02/03/2009 21:14

Don't like Millie, sorry
