Do you care if close family do not like the names you choose?

We had sort of decided on Talia (spelling will be looked into as it seems there are several ways to spell it but want to decide on a name first of all).

Hadn't decided 100% but I am 32 weeks and it is the only name me and DH both like.

Anyway, said it to MIL and Mum and both, although they didn't actually say anything, it was very obvious they didn't like it (and this was seperatly so didn't influence each other on that).

In some ways I think "sod what they think" but then on the other hand I think that if the only 2 people in RL that I have told so far didn't like it then maybe we have made the wrong choice?

Couldn't care less what other people think especially family members. And I've had rudeness from them over both my DCs names. But then I don't particularly like the names they chose for their DCs. I'd never say that though.

I think it's part of being a parent - doing what you think is best. The name choice is a good start. If you worry about what other people think, then you should let them be the parent and make the decisions.

It's what you think that matters.

Talia is a very pretty name. I like Thalia better though.

When i named my ds Wilfred and rung my Mum to tell her, there was such a long pause on the end of the phone I thought we had been cut off..... Then there was lots of "i i i i i i i i i i'll have to get used to that name !" I very calmly replied "Yes you will Mum wont you!" There hasnt been a problem since!!
