What do other mums associate with these names and are they good choices?? First child a girl called Maya Jasmine. I'm half Indian so don't want a traditional English name.. Help please as it is getting close and I am not sure!!

I know two Rio's and they are both girls.

Lyra reminds me of Lycra - sorry

Weegiemum · 19/02/2009 08:37

Sorry, I really don't like either, but don't have many ideas instead ......

pagwatch · 19/02/2009 08:40

Rio is a not very bright footballer and sienna is a b-list celeb defined by who she is shagging.

Thats what I think of anyway

randomname · 19/02/2009 14:04

more like c list!

yellowflowers · 19/02/2009 14:10

Saskia is fab. So is Sacha (for boy or girl).

Lulubee · 19/02/2009 16:46

What about Ria or Lia for a girl? They go well with Maya. Although I do think India is a very lovely name.

Love Nico for a boy.

thinkingabout3 · 20/02/2009 08:19

Isaac and Lyla. I think that Sienna, Savannah, Scarlett etc is all a bit rough trying to sound posh, sorry. I think that Saskia is a little less like this but still not my taste. Maya is such a beautiful classic name that it would be lovely to find something which really compliments it.

deste · 21/02/2009 19:41

India is beautiful and very classic.

BumblBeee · 21/02/2009 20:55

Maya Jasmine - an excellent name

Rio and Sienna seem a bit less classy IMHO

Joachim and Saskia I like better.

Isaac and Layla or Leila ok too.

MumOfBaby · 21/02/2009 21:14

Love Rio and Sienna- good taste!

Shylily · 21/02/2009 21:30

I say - don't ask anyone, they'll just give you their opinion! Whatever you choose will be great for you and if people hate it, they'll get used to it. My whole family has different names and every time a new baby's named the whole extended family go 'Rio, that's bloody awful' . Within a month they all think it's great!

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/02/2009 21:41

I like India and Nico a lot better.

Sienna is OK, prefer the spelling Siena.

Rio, also fineish however I think both names will date badly.

GetOrfMoiLand · 21/02/2009 21:42

FWIW do not think the name India is hippyish, very classy and classic

Saramama · 21/02/2009 22:16

I love Sienna, Rio reminds me of the song.

amandine07 · 22/02/2009 13:09

I think Sienna is a v pretty name however there is the association with sienna miller but that is not necessarily a bad thing depending on whether you love or hate her!
I don't really like Rio...makes me think of rio ferdinand who i don't really rate as a quality male specimen. Funny how these things can make you love or hate a name!

purpleduck · 22/02/2009 13:16

Rio.....that cowboy hat and spurs are going to hurt on the way out....
