We already have a Lucas and thinking of George - will everyone make the same tedious comment or laugh, or will it not cross their minds? Honesty please...

I was thinking nie unti I thought George Lucas and thought hopefully they'll always say Lucas and George - not George and Lucas.

Well if my DD had been a boy she would have been George. Love it!

LoveMyLapTop · 07/02/2009 22:06

dont get it

Ashantai · 07/02/2009 22:08

Tbh i didnt get the connection till it was spelled out to me

Ashantai · 07/02/2009 22:09

I guess only star wars fans are really gonna take notice and i like both names btw

dizzyTHETARTANARMYdixies · 07/02/2009 22:09

I think you're thinking too much

I LOVE the name George and wouldn't let that put me off at all

Aranea · 07/02/2009 22:10

I'm afraid when I saw the thread title I did laugh and say 'is that a joke?'

Sorry....

brimfull · 07/02/2009 22:10

didn't make the link at all
I think they go well together.

Aranea · 07/02/2009 22:10

PS am not a Star Wars fan

CrackerNut · 07/02/2009 22:12

I only connected the two because Ds is a Star Wars nut so I have heard it around.

It wouldn't stop me using the names though.

mopsyflopsy · 07/02/2009 22:12

I did think 'George Lucas'...

Knax · 07/02/2009 22:13

Thanks - I originally saw on a MN thread that someone was laughing at the idea of those 2 names together. Maybe being oversensitive though!
Honesty from more people appreciated before I make final decision.

I think both names are nice, but people will make the 'George Lucas' connection. If you like the names thats all that matters.

LuLuBai · 08/02/2009 08:16

I do like the names individually, but I'm afraid I immediately thought George Lucas when I saw the thread title.

It would be absolutely fine when they are adults and have independent lives but while they are growing up together it could be a bit tedious.

hoppybird · 08/02/2009 09:44

I immediately made the connection, but both names are nice names, and you never know, they may be very into Star Wars when older, and really appreciate the link.

However, I do think only Star Wars fans or film buffs would notice.

On a similar theme, I know a pair of sisters named Hayley and Alex - when I was introduced to them (they were teenagers at the time), I commented about Roots and what a great series that was. Their mum was very much amused and said she'd never noticed that before, and nobody had ever made the connection.

hoppybird · 08/02/2009 09:46

LOL - just read that back, sounds like I've got no social skills! Obviously, it wasn't the first thing I said on meeting them.

yama · 08/02/2009 09:51

I didn't make the connection either. I know the name but I can't actually picture the man.

It wouldn't put me off.

LaDiDaDi · 08/02/2009 09:54

I didn't make the connection but that was because you said "Lucas and George" whereas in rl you would also say "George and Lucas".

I think that they are both good names but I don't think that I would use them both unless I really was a StarWars fan tbh, it will be very irritating to have to explain constantly that you are not a fan.

Kbear · 08/02/2009 10:01

I wouldn't make the connection (I know brothers called George and Lucas) but I have named my DD after the Spice Girls apparently so tend not to worry about these things!!

GossipMonger · 08/02/2009 10:06

I really wouldnt worry about it.

I did think George Lucas but it isnt a bad connection is it??

When I told my dad what I wanted to call my ds (totally normal name btw) he said, 'But that is Dr Irvine's name.........'

WTF?? Is Dr Irvine a serial killer? No
Is he a bastard to his wife? No
Is he a good kind person? Yes

Someone will always have some association with something and if a friend of mine can call her kids LaToyah and Micah when her surname is Jackson then you should just go for it!

And kids at school will probably think they are cool!!!!!!!!

LuLuBai · 08/02/2009 10:10

at LaToyah Jackson.

GossipMonger · 08/02/2009 10:11

Lulu - I know! Poor kid must be about 15 now so I dont know how she got through high school with a name like that!

PadDad · 08/02/2009 10:27

GossipMonger what do you mean it isn't a bad connection?

George Lucas is evil. He completely desecrated his legacy by making those prequels.

differentCupID · 08/02/2009 10:28

star wars fan for parent
