A family name on my DH's side - in case our LO turns out to be a boy - is this name terrible?? The Algernon in DHs family was always known as Algie.

I can already see the child getting called algae, but, come on - let me have it?????

Hmm, I am never quite sure - he is a nightmare to pin down with baby names. I am more of a fanatic planner than him - I htink he is more of a 'wait and see what it looks like' type of namer.

Just pray it doesn't look like a skyewalker!

I like Algernon and think Algie is cute for a little boy (and less common than Alfie or Archie).

I prefer Algernon to Wilbur, but both are nice, traditional, strong boys' names imo.

Skywalker would be bad - I'm just hoping he doesn't look like a Chewbacca for so many reasons! My DH actually had us go through all of the names in Star Wars 'just in case' therewas one which we could use - he felt that Jango, Boba, Han and Lando were all acceptable.

Stop and think for a moment. You are an 11 year old boy on your first day at Secondary school. You are small for your age, you wear glasses, you are shy and a bit lacking in confidence. 3 of the big confident Alpha year 7s come up to you and say "What's your name?"
"Angernon" you say.........

Don't do it

Yes this is a terrible name.

I think that everyone should bear in mind that they may not have a DC with the personality to carry off an unusual name.

SAEJ - sadly they haven't perfected that one yet!

You don't need to be a nerd to find carrying off a name like Algernon a trial - you need to be an Alpha year 7 not to!
