Please help, I just found out it's a boy and I need the boy version of Annabel which was my chosen girl name. Any ideas?
(and don't say Sebastian because DH will say no).

William or Alexander or James

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 12/12/2008 21:12

I named your other two children and said that Julius or Richie would go really well with £$&^ and &&*& , and then I read that you wanted to keep your identity secret and that you weren't telling people in rl. LUckily they've removed it, so that was quick!

Anyway, Julius or Richie are my favourites with your dds' names. Quirky but classic.

I also like Dominic, Marcus, Patrick and Frederick.

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 12/12/2008 21:15

And Peter, that was the other one. Just thought of Saul too, love that one, never hear it, ever, but it seems normal at the same time. I like that. Also, quirky but classic, Gregory, Thaddeus and Teddy.

delightedoldbag34 · 12/12/2008 21:17

Do I know you then? [still confused?]
or have you seen my kids names on another thread somewhere????

And if I know you then WHO are you???? !

WhileShosheWatchedHerFlocks · 12/12/2008 21:26

I put DS1 name in and DD's name came up!

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 12/12/2008 21:30

I am Liffey. The poster who told you to tell your husband that Annabel was Scottish! I cut and pasted the blurb off web to support my spurious claims on your behalf?!?!

you told me your dds' names!

This is my christmas name. Geansai Nollaig is gaelic for christmas jumper doncah know?!

delightedoldbag34 · 12/12/2008 21:35

Ah ....Liffey it all makes sense to me now.
Duh. [slaps pregnant forehead containing no brain cells whatsoever]
Your Christmas jumper-ness confused me.
Thank you again for your back-up re: Annabel - DH had agreed that it was the perfect name thanks to your info I think! Shame we won't be using it (well, not this time anyway. Don't think you can call a baby boy Annabel?)
Anyway thank you for deleting your messages -- that is much appreciated. Was just confused and wondered if you were a friend of mine in disguise. Not that I'd have minded I just wanted to know who you were!
(note to self: be more careful in future when trying to keep a secret!)

Someone on another thread just mentioned Macaulay - am quite liking this?.......
Although it is the surname of someone we know. Hmm - is that a problem?

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 12/12/2008 21:43

Macaulay is a bit ho hum. But I do like Malachy! That's gaelic isn't it? not sure if it's scots gaelic or Irish gaelic, but there are a few Malachys about here.

If you are going with a British tennis players theme (Annabel Croft!) how about Frederick or Gregory.

Although I am really rooting for Julius or Richie. I will try and find proof that they are Scottish

Phoenix · 12/12/2008 21:45

Lewis

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 12/12/2008 21:45

pronounced MALakee. Nice.

delightedoldbag34 · 13/12/2008 11:04

Good luck with that liffey .........

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 13/12/2008 19:02

Somebody called Richard once wrote a book about kings and queens of scotland. Does that count?

There was a pope Julius II and his 'arms' are in Scotland. NOt sure what that actually means Hmm

Ok, so go on tell me.....what did you say this time?!

And no, writing a book about Scottish kings doesn't make you Scottish! So Richard is a no.
And unfortunately Julius is also a no, but mainly because we have a relative named Julian (distant relative but he is an absolute HORROR). Which puts me right off.

DH currently likes Alexander (with Lex or Lexy for short).
I'm keen but not sure it's THE ONE. Maybe it will grow on me? Must check it in the popularity lists....hmm

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 14/12/2008 12:46

That time, I was thinking one thing while typing another thing, and clearly that's more than I can handle these days!

I was saying how everything can be traced back to scotland. But what I typed was nonsense and made me sound bonkers. Which, I'm not, well, not totally!

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 14/12/2008 12:49

What about Sandy? Is that boring up in Scotland where there are lots. It sounds very McTartanChic to my ear. I also like Jock. I could really get behind Jock, but Americans all hate it.

MadamAnt · 14/12/2008 12:51

LOL at Hannibal Ver good.

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 14/12/2008 17:55

What about.................

drum roll

Roscoe

(Sholto and Mungo a bit too McPosh. Roscoe a bit quirkier and rarer).

delightedoldbag34 · 14/12/2008 18:13

I like Sholto and Mungo. I did suggest Mungo to DH cos I quite like it and he does too. But we have a relative called Murdo and wondered if it's a bit close? And perhaps he might get teased at school? (the Murdo is a child).

Where did you get Roscoe? Hmm wonder if it'll be a grower?

Sandy - no, I know a few and it make me think of men with ginger beards for some (odd) reason.

Any other ideas, I like this game!

delightedoldbag34 · 14/12/2008 18:16

Just googled Sholto and apparently it means 'teal duck'.
Not quite sure how I feel about that!
Might start a new thread to assess reaction to it. Suspect it may be .
Although do I give a monkeys? Er no!

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 14/12/2008 18:40

Roscoe just popped into my head as being a Scottish name. NO idea who or what the history is. He could be a Scottish warrior he slaughtered a million English in the 16th century for all I know?!

Teal sounds like how the Next Catalogue describes a boring v-neck jumper! I quite like it though. For a girl. Sister to topaz actually!

LiffeyCanSpellGeansaiNollaig · 14/12/2008 18:41

Bruce? It is on the way back. I put my ear to the ground, by the train track like a sioux Indian and I can feeeeeeel it coming back.

delightedoldbag34 · 14/12/2008 18:44

We have a good friend Bruce so that might be weird. Quite like it though, but no.
Teal and Topaz for twin girls?.... I dare you!

MadamDeathstarOverBethlehem · 14/12/2008 18:47

Annabeau
Annaboy

delightedoldbag34 · 14/12/2008 18:50

Annaboy.........?
Hmm not sure how that would go down in the playground....
