Hello. I am having a baby girl, due end of april. Our surname is Webb so would like something to go with it.

DH really likes Mia but I think it is a bit short to go with Webb?

I really like Madeline (how ever you spell it, will obviously check if we choose it), Matilda, Leyla/Leila.

Also came into conversation today was calling her April or May (depending on when she is born). I like it, but don't love it iyswim.

Not going to talk to family about names as they hated everything we liked last time and vice versa.

Isla?

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 13:56

How is Isla pronounced? Somebody did say on the Isla thread but I can't remember!

Only thing is, the other thread said that it was becoming VERY popular, although I haven't heard it round here?

matildax · 13/12/2008 14:16

isla is pronounced eye la.

PuppyMonkeyNuts · 13/12/2008 14:18

I've got a Madeleine, yay!

Also got Esme Bluebell, born in April.

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 14:22

DH won't agree to Madeleine I love it though.

Dh just turned his nose up at Isla too.

HE IS SO FUSSY

PuppyMonkeyNuts · 13/12/2008 14:23

Oh get rid of him then and find a bloke with better taste in names!

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 14:25

LOL.

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 14:26

The only name he likes is MIA!

I like it but want to go down some other routes too

PuppyMonkeyNuts · 13/12/2008 14:31

Mia is nice, but a bit yawn in a way. Something longer with your surname might be good. You have a great surname though so you will get away with it whatever you choose.

Other name I like is Eliza. Eliza Webb sounds great!

christmasiana · 13/12/2008 15:12

I like Eliza Webb too

there is Maisha too - ma-ee-sha - means 'life' in Swahili

chloemegjess · 13/12/2008 15:28

I don't think Eliza would really go with my other DDs name (Elouise) as it is a bit too similar.

Maisha is ok but not for us I don't think.

Lulubee · 13/12/2008 19:05

Madeleine is lovely, you could call her Madeleine Mia Webb. And then if she ever wanted to be a writer she could call herself 'M.M.Webb' which just sounds fantastic. I think longer first names work better with short surnames.

LaDiDaDi · 13/12/2008 19:11

I like April, think it's quite cute and makes me think of an active, sporty person though I've no idea why.

Madeleine is lovely and goes well with Webb.

Other ideas are

Pennelope
Susannah
Sylvie
Corrine
Francesca
Jemima

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 13/12/2008 21:43

Mia is a beautiful name and I don't think its sounds too short at all with Webb - Mia Webb sounds gorgeous!

I'm not keen on your other choices, sorry.

How about

Isabelle
Katherine/Katie/Kitty
Elizabeth/Libby
Lucy

jellybeans · 15/12/2008 00:31

i LIKE

Mia

and

Alyssa
Lucy
Kayla
Leona/ie
Tia
Faye
Kyla
Chloe
Evie

As you have a short surname, I think you can go to town with an interesting first name. How about:

Aurelia
Hermione
Olympia
Cordelia
Henrietta

...?
