I always loved the names Rebecca/Rebecka and Teresa/Theresa....bearing in mind that in Germany those were unusual names at the time....(seventies)

and her golden hair.

not her creepily long neck tho

OiOi · 12/12/2008 07:08

I have always hated my name as it's common and typically 70's, wish my mother had chose something like Catherine or Susannah - but those are not names I would choose for my own daughters.

smartiejakeonachristmascake · 12/12/2008 07:22

I hated my name when I was a child but now think it's quite cool. It was very unusual in the seventies when I was growing up and I have still only ever met one person with the same name as me.

TinySocks · 12/12/2008 07:24

I love my name.

daizydoo · 12/12/2008 07:48

I hated my name as it was so common when I was at school. Still is, you can guarantee that there will be at least another person with the same name as me! I always wanted to be called Victoria or Vanessa!

FlirtyThirty · 12/12/2008 10:50

I know and Octavia...she hates it. And to be honest, we (her friends) have always thought it pretentious.... One of my least favourite Roman names...

Boobz · 12/12/2008 12:55

I am known as a short version of my name and wish I was actually called the longer version (Alexandra). I think it's pretty, if a little posh. But no one calls me it and it would be strange to insist on it now at the age of 29.

ceeceeanne · 23/12/2008 16:17

I have a hyphenated name and when my full name is used i like it but dont like the name at all when only first bit is used. used to be considered very scottish (im english) when was little, not so much now would like the idea of a pretty name but not sure id suit it!

Iklboo · 23/12/2008 16:22

I always wanted to be 'Rachel' - my name is also typically late 60s/70s - there were 4 of us in my class

PaddingtonBore · 23/12/2008 16:25

Jane
Unfrilly, timeless, unshortenable.
I have a horrid, 70s/80s, frilly, with lots of diminutives. oh, and I've no middle name to fall back on.

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 23/12/2008 16:26

I'd stick with my name BUT I'd be officially christened the short version of it as I hate the long version and my nan uses the excuse of "that's what you were christened" as a reason for calling me it all the time! lol

higgle · 24/12/2008 14:56

As my mother nearly called me Heather or Margaret I'll just be happy with what I've got

IllegallyBrunette · 24/12/2008 14:57

I like my name but if I had to of picked another then Louisa.

mediocrebronze · 24/12/2008 14:58

My name. I like it

LadyLauraStandish · 24/12/2008 15:00

I like my name but I always quite fancied being called Juliana or Eliana.

tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo · 24/12/2008 15:00

Jessica

tattycoram · 24/12/2008 15:20

Kate. I have always been a secret Kate.
I do have a very nice classic name though irl, so no complaints really.

whoingodsnameami · 24/12/2008 15:22

Mum was going to call me Keeley, but she changed her mind.........wish she had'nt.

audley · 24/12/2008 19:18

I was nearly Patricia Winifred, so I'm happy with what I actually got

llareggub · 24/12/2008 19:26

I was very nearly Angharad. I wanted to be Annabel after reading Freaky Friday.

twoluvlysnowmen · 24/12/2008 19:31

funny, because at dinner time i asked my family to find me a middle name, as i haven't got one.

mt first name start with z, my surname with c.

dd suggested something with an o, so my initials would read ZOC

TooMuchMakkaPakka · 24/12/2008 23:27

Hey, people want to be called by my name - it's on this thread more than once!! Feeling good about myself, and my parents .

I always wanted to be a Katherine, a name we considered for DD but ruled out because she would get called Kaf which would really wind me up.

snoopdog · 24/12/2008 23:38

my dad wanted to call me Zoe,

i quite like it,

but my mum objected as i had 'weird' initials

ZW?

not really 'weird' is it?
