I always loved the names Rebecca/Rebecka and Teresa/Theresa....bearing in mind that in Germany those were unusual names at the time....(seventies)

People often call me Rachel, despite my insistence that it is not my name (my name does begin with an R but I am usually known by a shorter version which begins with another letter) which is odd because I always wanted to be Rachel.

My name is ok. Nothing exciting but could be worse.

Ohh feel quite honored reading this thread. I always thought my name was quite dull but obviously other people think it's ok ;)
I'm a Catherine but usually get Kate or Katie so I'm a bit of a mixture!

Quite happy with my name although I wish there weren't so many little Katies running around... very annoying in supermarket!

I always wanted to be called Elizabeth or Alexandra. I like long names x

I like the name I have, wouldn't change it. Not rare of posh (Claire) but nonetheless am happy with it.

People call me Amanda if they get my name wrong, quite often in fact. I could be an Amanda but not a Mandy.

If I had to change- Rosemary I think.

I would like to be called Kate or Anna. My actual name is biblical and common but that's fine with me. If I had been a boy I would have been an Aaron - not sure about that one...

Hate my name, have always seen myself as a Laura, I have no idea why, and it is not a name I would have called a daughter, far to 'sensible' for me to choose.

I was born near christmas and my mother was going to call me Noelle. I am happy with the name she gave me instead.

Hey, people want to be called by my name - it's on this thread more than once!! Feeling good about myself, and my parents .

I always wanted to be a Katherine, a name we considered for DD but ruled out because she would get called Kaf which would really wind me up.

funny, because at dinner time i asked my family to find me a middle name, as i haven't got one.

mt first name start with z, my surname with c.

dd suggested something with an o, so my initials would read ZOC

I was very nearly Angharad. I wanted to be Annabel after reading Freaky Friday.

I'd stick with my name BUT I'd be officially christened the short version of it as I hate the long version and my nan uses the excuse of "that's what you were christened" as a reason for calling me it all the time! lol

Jane
Unfrilly, timeless, unshortenable.
I have a horrid, 70s/80s, frilly, with lots of diminutives. oh, and I've no middle name to fall back on.

I always wanted to be 'Rachel' - my name is also typically late 60s/70s - there were 4 of us in my class
