Cady?

Watching mean girls on telly (not sure why but hey). The main girl is called Cady (pronounced kay-dee.

I really like the sound of it ,although don't like the spelling, maybe a better way? Writing it down it looks odd, like CAD - EEE but I like the way it is said.

What does everybody else think?

I know of a newborn Cadi. I think it's nice

aGalChangedHerName · 09/12/2008 22:58

My friends dd is called Kady (i think)

littlelamb · 09/12/2008 23:00

Nooooo. She spends that whole film saying 'No its Kayyyyydeeeeee' when everyone pronounces it 'caddy'. It also sounds like someone trying to say 'Katie' with a funny accent. Don't do it!

seeker · 09/12/2008 23:02

Why?

pregapuss · 09/12/2008 23:06

littlelamb, thats why I wanted to find a better spelling so that it was more obvious as to what it says as Cady (how she spells it in the film) does look like it should be said Caddy imo

I like it.

I would definitely pronounce it Cay-dee rather than Caddy.

I know a Kaydee and although I like the sound of the name, I don't like the spelling, I much prefer Cady. Is Cady a legimate (well, you know what I mean) spelling of the name?

NotanOtter · 09/12/2008 23:09

seeker stay away

you know is bad for your heart!

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 09/12/2008 23:10

Hmmm - so on that basis would you pronounce Katy as 'Katty'? ...

puffling · 09/12/2008 23:11

There are mountains of Cady/Kadie/Kaden/Kade/Cade boys and girls here in Salford.

seeker · 09/12/2008 23:11

I feel have to sacrifice myself for the good of future generations......

NotanOtter · 09/12/2008 23:12

oh go on then....

pregapuss · 09/12/2008 23:13

I don't know which is the "correct" way of spelling it. It is defo Cady in the film but that doesn't mean much.

puffling · 09/12/2008 23:17

I don't think there's a correct spelling. It's one of those names you can choose your own spelling of.

puffling · 09/12/2008 23:18

I have proof of this as I've taught youths with every single one of the spellings listed above.

seeker · 09/12/2008 23:20

There isn't a correct spelling BECAUSE IT IS NOT A NAME!

My brother's stepdaughter is called Time. This is not a name either - and PLEASE don't anybody post a thread in a few days time saying "I heard a lovely unusual name recently and ~I'm thinking of using it for my dd........."

PlonkerTeatowelOnTheirHeads · 09/12/2008 23:23

D'ya know, I honestly did not know that it isn't a name

I know/have known a couple Kaydee's and they're all in their 20's and 30's ...I've always thought it really pretty ...

pregapuss · 09/12/2008 23:26

Seeker, what makes a name a "real" name? Is there a list of correct names somewhere?

I don't really get the whole "not a name thing" says who?
Surely as soon as somebody is named something, it is a name?

ramonaquimby · 09/12/2008 23:37

have always assumed her parents didn't know how to spell Katy

ScummyMummy · 09/12/2008 23:39

Seeker- is Time's surname "Gentlemen-Please"?

seeker · 09/12/2008 23:41

No - and it's not Flies either!

pregapuss · 09/12/2008 23:42

I don't know anybody stupid enough to accidently spell their DC names wrong?

SO who makes names "official"
